Coldplay is essentially The Bends-era Radiohead polished up and repackaged for the masses. Before you call blasphemy, look up interviews with Chris Martin where he acknowledges the huge influence Radiohead had on the formation and sound of Coldplay. Songs like High and Dry and Fake Plastic Trees are some of the songs that, imo, Martin and Co. drew from the most. The only problem I have with Kanye's statement is that there are probably people out there who may give Coldplay more credit, or possibly think of them in a higher light because of what he said. Call me crazy, but there are people dumb enough out there to accept what others say as fact (I'm looking at you cable news networks followers). It's irksome that a band like Coldplay may be remembered as this "defininitive" band, when really, all credit goes to, imo, Radiohead.
I don't think its a coincidence that all the Timbaland songs were released first. None of them have been anything besides mediocre. I hope Jay decides to drop Reminder because that song is garbage. These Kanye/No ID songs better be good or else this album will be total garbage.
If each CD only has like 10-12 songs on it, I think he could pull it off without a helluva lot of filler. But if each one is as long as The Cool, I'll be worried.
The Black Keys are pretty awesome. Dangermouse produced their latest album, Attack & Release. Definitely recommended if you are looking for some good bluesy rock.
