PC versus Console Gaming

Just some quick thoughts on this.

A friend of mine is very proud of his gaming PC. He invests more of himself into that rig than anything else and says that this generation of consoles can't come close. And that's cool... but how could any reasonable person really give a flying nun? I can see that some might care about graphics, and I do too, but I'm really enjoying my 360 and it only cost me under 400$. Once. It's specialized to play the latest games like every other 360 owner's. I don't need a graphics card, I don't need a sound card. I don't need to type sh1t! I never buy a sweet new game and get home and find out my processor isn't cutting it anymore.

I have a computer so I can browse the internet, download music and movies and what have you. I spent about 1200 bucks and it's been working fine for about 4-5 years, so why in the hell would I want to continually upgrade to play, for instance Fallout 3 when I can buy it for my 360 and play with a nice controller that is custom fitted for the game? To feel superior to everyone who owns a console and hasn't spent thousands on their PC so they can get a marginally better frame-rate?

I am more than happy to play my good old standardized gaming console til the next generation comes. Which incidentally means I only have to spend money on hardware once every 5 years or so!
