the video, game marketplace wont work becuz it says i have to join xbox live?

i had gold then the membership ran out so it switched me back to silver, but now i dont know how to get my gamertag and stuff back becuz the only option i see is to create a new xbox live account...

does it matter? is it good to have it registered if(when) it breaks?

i thot u couldnt just plug it into a computer and share its interwebs
