As I sit here wondering why I even came back given that I barely had time before for this site... I still wonder the same thing.
Well, this whole getting in shape is kicking my ass. I started kajukempo and just a week before my blue belt test, I ended up snapping my ACL in during a sparring match with a brown belt. For those who don't know, the progression is white -> yellow -> orange -> purple -> blue -> green -> brown -> black.
So much for any work out. A year of rehab later, I'm back to where I started. I ended up with an allograft, which is taking ligament from a deceased "donor" rather than pulling a section from my other leg. Ever wonder what happens when you sign a donor card? I'd say thanks, but it'll have to wait 'til I get to the other side I suppose.
To ease into exercise, I went with an easier sport- scuba. I went with the PADI program and I'm currently open water certified and I've already pre-paid the advanced course. Yes easier on the body, but not a cheap sport by any means. I've already bought most of my own gear, only used but pretty current in the market.
So I wanted to get back in the gym again, so I joined the gym and locked in a low monthly rate. I'm now in my 4th month of muay thai boxing. I tried the Brazilian ju jitsu, but at my age it just wasn't a pretty sight.
Work is work... still in SF and doing the 1 1/2 hr drive each way across two bridges.
That's about it. The kids are now in middle school, signed up for swimming again (city team), softball is under way and they are also taking muay thai in my gym and they're almost done doing their scuba certifications.
