In my opinion, playing this game isn't much better than sitting in front of a slot machine and hoping that the next kill (or pull of the arm) will help you recover some of your money. The big difference, is that you don't have to repair your equipment in order to continue playing slots - but you do have to constantly repair (and upgrade) in Entropia Universe, in addition to buying more ammunition. While it may be nice to see the broadcasts that people have struck it big with their kills or mining, we don't know how many people are online to get an idea of the true chances of hitting it big. This need to repair, purchase ammunition, supplies, is MindArks bread and butter. On top of that, they assess fees when you deposit money, and if my withdrawal is any sign of what people have to expect - a withdrawal of over 1,600 ped - equating to $160 - resulted in a deposit of only $66 (and that's before my bank assessed a fee of $15 for an incoming wire). What the hell happened to the $94 that didn't show up. That's right, $10 withdrawal fee - but that leaves $84 unaccounted for (over 50% of what should have been received). Finally, when you do wish to take money out, if you used a debit or credit card to deposit then that withdrawal should go back to your credit card - this was confirmed with the bank whose card was used to deposit the money in the first place. They informed me that they couldn't - or did they mean that they wouldn't? Why won't they do this? While I don't know the true reason, my suspicion is that they wouldn't be able to assess these fees if they credited what you were due back to your credit card. Many banks have rules that merchants must abide by, and side-stepping the credit back to your card and depositing directly to your bank account eliminates these hurdles for MindArk.
