You can get a stand alone HD player for $350 plus 5 free movies. IMO, thats a cheap investment for what you get. You can get a PS3 for $500. Thats a good deal for a BD player and a gaming system. In case a format dies, you will still have outstanding versions of movies, that will likey look and sound identical if the came out on the other format.

So really, the only investment you would lose in on the hardware, although thats arguable in some cases because the HD DVD players DVD capabilities are top notch, and the PS3 will be around a while as a gaming system. So really, you'll get something out of your investment.

Call of Duty 2 was a launch game,  and it sold 580K in North America in the first 6 weeks;

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter was released in March 2006,  and it sold 500K copies that very same month..
