wow. that link is bs. first off, dual layer blu-rays hold 50gb, not 54 gb. second, buena vista doesn't support hd dvd because they're owned by disney. thirdly, disney does not support hd dvd.

Reign of Fire is from Buena Vista right??

Reign of Fire is on HD-DVD...

Reign of Fire is not on HD-DVD in North America.

So North America is all that matters in the format wars?:|

I think your logic is retarded, but regardless, i can still order Reign of Fire on HD-DVD, and it will play on my HD-DVD player...And i live in North America..

i call bs. reign of fire was distributed by buena vista on blu-ray. it is not on hd dvd. here's proof

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=PCHE-50005

No matter how you slice it,  Buena Vista is not Bluray exclusive.

I think you and I both know that the average North American hidef consumer won't be ordering Japanese imports when they can get a Bluray copy of the same move in the states. And it would be cheaper and faster by the time you factor shipping.

But the main poit is.  North America is not all that matters,  Europe and Japan can get Reign of Fire on HD-DVD

No it doesnt HD DVD is officialy dead anyway when Blu Ray is slowly growing, more space, more movies, BD DVD is the future whether you want it or not

BS. To be officially dead it would need a press release from Toshiba. Also, lets not kid our selves here, both formats are a joke compared to DVD. Neither has 100% Hollywood backing, neither has sales that can match anything like those of DVD, and while fan boys of both bash each others melons in over who has the longest...oops I meant better system, 720p via broadband is picking up pace. I know system wars loves history repeats, but this one is the mother of them all; not Betamax vs. VHS, but SACD and DVD Audio getting their rears kicked to mars by iTunes because the people behind them would not agree and kept fighting. If both sides are still fighting this time next year, then it is thank you and good night to both of them, end of story. People will go from upscaled DVD to digital download and pass this nonsense by.

If that were to happen every device would need one of those 1 terabyte HDD's

also, everyone needs to have a high speed connection of at minimum 20Mbps for quality video. online distribution will not be full scale for another 5 years.

Batman Begins has average bitrates of 11Mbps,  and movies are going to continue to look better and better with lower and lower bitrates.

Blu-ray is better. If you say otherwise you're a tool to HD DVD. Blu-ray offers a better value to consumers and is an ever expanding technology that will always be one step ahead of HD DVD. Triple-layer 51gb HD DVD: who cares when its not even on the market yet and the current standard Blu-ray disc is 50gb? On top of that a quad-layered 100gb BR disc is on its way to the market and a six-layered 200gb BR disc is also being finalized. How can HD DVD ever touch that especially now that you can buy a $500 PS3 which is no more than the cheapest HD DVD player and movies on both formats cost the same, $25 - $35.

Blu-ray is simply the better technology, value and overall product for all of us consumers. If HD DVD succeeds it proves consumers cannot control products on the market that benefit them and rather let products take over that only benefit the corporations.

If Bluray is such a superior technology why do HD-DVD movies on average have more extras?  And how is Java working out for teh superior technology?

[QUOTE="daytona_178"][QUOTE="2largeadults"][QUOTE="daytona_178"]

I was just wondering why Blue-Ray is so hyped up..... i mean iv heard it cant be read from as fast as a HD-DVD, and i know it has more space... but i dont think games developers could actually fill all that space up. But im not too smart so please tell me which one you like and why.

P.S. im not a Microsoft fanboy.... I have a PC, and a DS Lite... Im neutral!

2largeadults
it doesn't matter which one you like hd-dvd is finished check the news

I guess this is the type of response i should expect from the sytem wars forum! I should have know better...

... That wasn't an opinion pal. Here's the link form since you aren't the sharpest crayon in the box: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2104850,00.asp

So HD-DVD is dead because Bluray has sold like 10K more movies?
I guess that means PS3 has already been burried since Xbox 360 has sold 10's of millions more games!

Give me a break...the war is far from over...You can't end a war with a software lead of under 10K..

[QUOTE="m3Boarder32"]360 is the better gaming console
PS3 is the better mutimedia device (i watch alot of movies)
duncanvk
No, I think 360 is a better game and multimedia console, for watching hdtv movies ps3 is the best. For music, photos, and videos streamlined straight from your computer, 360 is the best. Lets not forget streaming music when you're playing games.

True.  I have not downloaded any movies or shows on Xbox Live though.  Well actually, i did download the free South Park episode in HD.    I don't do any streaming either.  Downloading while playing games is a huge plus for 360.  But for myself right now,  i think it's a huge plus for PS3 that it's  capable of uncompressed lossless audio,  and the 360 is only capable of regular ol'e Doby Digital.  Hopefully a new 360 with HDMI will come out.  I'll be glad i bought mine at costco if that's the case.
