Well, let me first say that I am a big fan of whatever Square-Enix does, and Inifinite Undiscovery doesn't make me steer away from them. Inifinite Undiscovery is fun in it's own frustrating way. It takes you quite a long time to finish this game if you don't know where the hell you're going (which is most of the time in this game).
The storyline to this game is quite confusing at least. From what I have picked up so far is that you play a flute player named Capell who get's mistaken for a guy named Sigmund The Liberator, and you placed in jail, but later rescued by a girl named Aya who is one of Sigmund's followers. You go on a journey to destroy the chains that bind the moon along with Sigmund and his crew. You begin to acquire a plethora of different characters which makes for an interesting time, when you see all of those characters on screen at the same time.
That is also where Infinite Undiscovery kinda messes up too. The Battle System...The Battle System isn't THAT bad, but it's also not all that good either. You control Capell in battle while your party members kinda go off of how you set their stats and moveset. They are pretty smart, so this shouldn't be an issue. What DOES become an issue is blocking. You can't block to save your life in this game. Well you can "parry" but you have to have PERFECT timing, and that isn't even worth mentioning in this game.
Overall the moves that are performed are pretty nice. I haven't seen anything super flashy as of yet, but I haven't completed the game either so I won't know until I complete it.
MY ULTIMATE ISSUE: NAVIGATION
OMG! The navigation and map in this game is just ABYSMAL!!! They tell you where you should be going but there isn't a great deal of clues to let you know how to get there, and it takes forever to get to the destination as well. I was expecting a vehicle or mobile animal of some sort (later you can ride that bear), but even with that, you spend most of your time, searching the whole map for your destination. If you cut the game off, the next day you'll probably be wondering, okay WTF was I doing? because I go through this often. I wish navigation and the maps could of been better. Hopefully a sequel will make it's way to the 360, and these issues will go addressed.
This game is fun though, don't get me wrong, just some minor issues. get it if you don't get frustrated easy and have a lot of time on your hands, but if you're looking for a good rpg, get TALES OF VESPERIA
