@tryit: You can't compare ED and SC development really
Frontier was an established studio - CIG wasn't they started from zero.
Elite has the Cobra engine which they worked on for many years before developing Elite - CIG only started working on the engine after the kickstarter
They already spent a lot of work and money on Elite before the kickstarter - SC only had a demo and no money, everything started after the kickstarter
Elite with the "you are the spaceship" development had like 1000 times less to do on the game - SC has to build every ship interior, station interior to match the exterior and be functional, every FPS item, weapons, clothes, animation....the work needed for all those is multitudes bigger than just making nice looking ships.
I personally think Elite will not implement space legs....because it will be compared to SC...either they need to do it right, and really detailed - which will take them many years as it took SC years - or they could implement it in a simpler form, but that won't look good compared to SC.
Lol the same again, aren't you guy tired making this crappy topics every few months?
Asking about tech demos when they just pushed out an hour long gameplay vertical slice - everybody asked for?
If ever now we have the most evidence they are working hard and making progress, and they have tons more in the bag than what we've seen.
Example: SQ42 is not a single player game with "levels" in the usual meaning, it's sandbox like SC just a bit more restricted as you are in the navy, but it play similarly in the all seamless Odin system, as 3.0 plays in the Stanton system.
That's an example why SQ42 takes longer (shared technical aspects) and why they have lots in the bag (while working on Stanton system, they have Odin system close to ready as well).
@ghosts4ever: Facts still stand...they didn't start as an established studio, had to build up the company/temas/workflow first. Established studios can spend 3-4-5 years on single player games, so 5 years for an MMO from a team started in a basement with a dozen people is not the end of the world.
@ghosts4ever: Is that so bad for an MMO? Especially that they needed to build up the company first?
Cyberpunk 2077 is in development since 2012 too, and nothing can be heard about it...release date somewhere between 2017-2021...and that is a single player game.
@Juub1990: ...and naming his company after himself maked him a d-bag? Like the other few million entrepreneurs around the world who named their business after themselfs...like Ford,Ferrari, Fiat, Chevrolet, Edelbrock, etc...all d-bags?
@jereb31: i'm on the PTU, and 3.0 looks freaking awesome btw. Have some bugs and FOS drops, but it is surprisingly stable
@ghosts4ever: Oh wow they didn't finish an MMO in 5 years while other big studios can spend this time developing a single player game. Did you notice that games only entering beta a few months before release?
