Honestly, I'm playing it again and for me this has got to be the best narrative told in a video-game. The writing, characters and overall setting is absolutely mind-blowing. It's extremely divisive and I completely understand that. I don't think video games have ever been to the level of films where developers are a bit more risky with their storytelling approach, but this is the first one that I felt such. This is coming from someone who pretty much has watched the whole Criterion collection.
I do wish the industry continues to evolve their storytelling approach, however after this backlash I believe the gaming audience as a whole isn't the type of market to appeal a more artistic approach in regard to writing.
