I think the Seahawks are an exception to the flawed rule of the NFL over the last 5 or 6 years.
I'm all for protecting the players, but the NFL has gone way too far with it, eliminating much of the fun from the game. Dirty hits should absolutely be penalized, but a number of perfectly legal hits are penalized every week. Don't even get me started on the illegal contact penalties and all the bogus unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. It's like they forget that it's a game, and it's meant to be fun at the end of the day. Seriously, 15 grand fines for players wearing certain shoes or visors?
I didn't see passing records start to crumble until they changed all these rules, and that tells me all I need to know. No other American sport gives more of an advantage with rules to the offense as the NFL does.
