Well, I have a ps3, no blu-ray movies, I'd like to change that. However, Im a pretty picky movie person (seeing as they're only 2 hours-ish, its harder to justify the price). So here are my guidelines:
Has to be from 1997 or more recent (anything else doesnt really need to be blu-ray)
I like a movie that takes a middle ground between action and drama, I dont like pure action movies or overdone dramas. Basically a drama with a couple violent/intense scenes is good (The Departed basically falls into that category, although Im not sure I liked it, movies similar to it also fit in here obviously).I dont need a happy ending either.
Has to be fun to watch more than once (thats why I hate overdone dramas, I cant stand watching the same characters do the same 20 minute speach much more than once, which is what bothered me about Flags of our Fathers)
Again Im extremely picky, out of about 50 movies I remember clearly, I only genuinely enjoyed a few, dont go reccomending any movie you liked, without really thinking if someone with extremely strict tastes would like it. Dont expect to have very many reccomendations.
I, do like dramatic scenes, despite what I've said about overdone dramas. I love dramatic/desperate scenes they just have to be well done. For example, I loved the scene in the house in Saving Private Ryan were all they do is talk about how their assignment isn't fair and how one life isn't worth their's, while I hated the scenes where Ira (sp?) in Flags of Our Fathers gets drunk and feels sorry for himself, seemed to overdone and cheesy (again opinion, maybe).
I tend to hate movies that are *touched by Hollywood*, I dont mind Hollywood movies, but some reoccurring themes in them are just stupid. I hate cheezy gunfights that are made just to be badass, or characters who waste 30 minutes crying about how they need to go on without them. Basically I hate movies that are unrealistic to a crazy extent (I dont mean fantasy).
If it helps I enjoyed these movies: Saving Private Ryan, No Country for Old Men, and to a lesser extent Gone Baby Gone.
Im neutral/kind of liked these: The Departed, Letters from Iwo Jima, and There Will be Blood
I hated these: Blood Diamond (overdone and unrealistic drama scenes, unrealistic fights, no offense to those who like it just my opinion), Flags of Our Fathers (just some overdone drama scenes, at a ridiculous extent, and the characters were occasionally hard to tell apart), Balls of Fury (and every other crazy fruity comedy like it, dont get me wrong I laugh at these movies, but they have no lasting appeal)
Im only posting these at the chance you'll find some pattern about the movies I like/dont like (and also so you dont reccomend the ones I hate). Again, lots of this is opinion, so don't necessarily reccomend movies you liked, just try to imagine movies I would like (Ex. lots of people liked Blood Diamond, not me) Thanks in advance.
Yeah, so I'm getting a PS3 (the 80gb one to be exact, I think it comes with motorstorm?)and I'm in need of some help to build my PS3 *package* (As in games, controllers, etc.). First off, what should I do about the dualshock situation? Is it possible to get one now, if so how (a link would be lovely) Also, do I need a HDMI cable to get the most out of PS3's graphics (considering I'm closer/ on the minimal viewing distance for my TV size). Now allow me to shift the focus back to PS3 and less about gadgets: I'm in dire need of some game recommendations. That said, I cant get very many games, as the rest of the package is probably gonna run my budget pretty deep. Some guidelines: It has to have multiplayer (I know, I'm missing uncharted, but having played Halo, gears, etc. online I'm really accustomed to multiplayer, call me picky), and cant be a sports game (again just preference). If it helps, I'm a touch interested in UT3, Rock Band, Resistance, and Call of duty 4, but then again I know next to nothing about them, so don't take it too seriously. Also, while I'm interested in a lot of games, I CANT AFFORD a lot of games, especially with all the stuff coming up, so keep the recommendations to several or less games (unless you have a really good explanations). Thanks.

Lol, that sounds pretty ideal to me provided I can find enough money, but no Crysis?
Well my specs are the exact ones of the PC Crytek reccomended to play Crysis (my links dont really work, but its easy to find in a search, "Crysis PC" works I think). So, I should be able to play most games, however my tastes conflict a little bit with the common reccomendations recently. Personally, I was more interested in Battlefield 2142 and other Battlefield-type games (massive online games) than Call of Duty 4. Now again, I havnt played these on PC so my opinion here might not count for much, but is Call of Duty 4 (among other games) that much better than Battlefield, that it would be a clear reccomendation? Anyway... I like MULTIPLAYER (Has to have good multiplayer) shooters the most, although I like every genre other than RPG (Single player Rpg that is, MMORPG is fine). Lastly, I should point out this is my first venture into PC gaming, so a well rounded game list would probably be nice (I dont want Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2, Quake Wars, etc. on the same list, maybe one of them? or not even? just make sure theres variety, even if it is the same genre). Thanks in advance.
