Well 2.4 firmware problems seems to me to be either corruption of the firmware while downloading or because of the re-downloading from error leaving corrupted files on the hard drive.

The true answer is I don't know nor do I care much to know. I updated my ps3 at 3:55 PM from a site that had the 2.4 firmware update.

For people wanting to update their ps3 here it is just follow the usb update method and you are good to go *old taco bell hand sign*. (PS… I am not responsible for any problems you get if you brick your system)
