Wow you're still here This brings back memories, although the site has been sold twice to different parties since we left Glad to see you gaming and blogging
@Barighm: Yeah, it started more like a trend years ago, but now it seems that Devs are forced to turn every one of their old long running franchise into something else unrecognizable, just to force this (empty, boring repetitive) concept to almost every freaking game
MGSV was an amazing game..but not the best in the series (guess why)
Horizon Zero is freaking superb, but for like the first 4 hours before the game get wide open with tons of meaningless side tasks, and tons of icons on the world's map to add to the confusion, turning a potentially GoTY winner into a tedious game, until playing the game starts to feel like a chore
Death Stranding's open world was utilized and done better, see the problem with these games is that THEY USED TO BE STORY FOCUSED, and with the tons of other (pointless repetitive) tasks and side quests players tend to lose interest, because they start the game and build this kind of connection with the characters and us all invested in the story ...then can open worms everywhere, connection lost, and now playing the game to get to another scene or story related segment it start to feel like a chore ...we're not having fun anymore, let's take a break play other games then come back a month or two later trying to remember what we're doing,..that's how we lose interest in games
