@Mikey-Don: I don't think the Nintendo Switch has one, so it might be coming sooner than you think haha. I could see Sony and Microsoft releasing "mini" versions of their consoles that have no disc drive and come with a larger SSD.
@gamerboy100: If you purchase a digital copy, the chances are very unlikely that you will lose the license down the road...some companies keep that right, but they actually have that right on both digital and disc copies. Loss of your account might be an issue, but you have bigger problems outside of gaming if you are scared of losing your account (e.g. do you use a phone? Buy stuff from Amazon? iTunes?). The servers shutting down will not affect your offline digital copy, and in terms of gameplay the affect will be equivalent.
I support both sides, I still purchase discs occasionally, but if you are diehard against discs then you are denying what is essentially inevitable.
@Gravity_Slave: Again, you don't need to spend an outrageous amount for a PC if you don't want to. But if you do, that will last, while still keeping excellent graphics, for years. You are comparing a dedicated gaming system to a full blown computer, there is no real comparison, the PC is a full system capable of doing real work alongside the gaming.
@Gravity_Slave: I agree that the bragging is a bit childish, but to say that the PC's last half as long is a bit silly too. The graphics quality is quite obviously much better if you have looked at a proper gaming PC before. If you build it, they won't cost too much money, and you aren't wasting your time with a dedicated, single use system like game consoles/entertainment centers. You are getting that plus a fully functioning workstation.
In recent years, if you make yourself a decent system, that will last you ages. I have a friend who bought a $600 generic Dell desktop, and eventually put a nice graphics card in it. He has been using this PC for at least 7 years now, for all video games and actual work. Needless to say, he has gotten a lot more for his money, so don't try and say PC's are a waste of money and last less haha. If you expect to get the best of graphics, then yes they will not last as long. But a PC running on low to medium graphics will last for ages and still look the game or better than console.
@oldschoolvandal Anyways, the 3DS and DS handhelds were single touch and they were some of the most successful handhelds. This is the same thing only it is more powerful and is a real game console.
@oldschoolvandal iPads and Androids need multi touch because the touch pad is the only buttons they have. The WiiU has multiple buttons so it would be worth using the single touch to cut costs because it will deliver the same gameplay. Also nintendo wants it to still be a game console, they dont want you using it almost only like a tablet.
