First. If you do not own a nice HDTV (like over 37") you do not need a blu-ray player. Save your $200. I am expecting a Blu-Ray player that is WORSE than the DVD player in the PS2. DVD was 3 year old technology and Sony still screwed that up. Can't wait to see what they include in the PS3. If you do not own an HDTV that is YOURS and can be played anytime you like than shut-up about what system is better. On a crappy SDTV the Wii, 360, and PS3 will all look the same. Right now Sony is trying to catch up to 360. It is not the other way around. Sony is lacking in many areas that 360 excels at. Graphics will be almost Identical. The Xbox had a huge technological advantage over the PS2. This is not the case with the PS3 and 360. The PS3 is a superior machine but developers are not going to exploit it (and you would barely be able to tell if at all) The only developers who will go the extra length is Sonys own. 1080p? Do your research and you will see that you could be wasting your money on that huge display that costs three times as much. Stop comparing the the Blu-Ray forced player to the HD-DVD add-on. I am one of the lucky few who could use a next-gen DVD player. Millions of Americans and even more Europeans will not need it in the next 5 years. By then the players will much cheaper and a clear winner should be visable. If you have to explain why you need to spend $600 on a Console (Don't mention the $500 version because without HDMI, it isn't a good investment in Blu-Ray) than you maybe you shouldn't buy it. You probally can't afford it. This isn't a strike at anyone just a good point. I didn't have to think twice about the $550 I spent on my 360 and games. The games the first year are going to be far and few between. You might be lucky to get 3-5 games that are worth your hard earned money. My 2 cents.
