This is my first attempt at writing a blog so go easy on me (if anyone even reads this). Over the past 2 years the words "next gen" have popped up all the more often, and what I want to ask is, are we ready for it? Granted it is a pretty blank question but are we? Have we pushed the current generation consoles to their absolute limits? I thought we had but seeing what 343 did with Halo 4 took my breath away, I have never seen the Xbox 360 produce visuals that stunning. Games like Beyond and The Last of Us look simply amazing on PS3. Yes I know I'm focusing on visuals, but it's one of the main features of gaming in the modern era. We want games to look, sound and give an almost movie like spectacle more than ever. Us gamers are a hard folk to please, but 2012 left me more than satisfied. Would new consoles in 2013 leave me more satisfied than another year of pushing the current gen, and trying to sqeeze every last drop of awesome out of 2 brilliant consoles? I think I would rather see 2013 be the last hurrah for the Xbox 360 and PS3 than be the time for the (those words again) next gen era to begin.
