Just after my "Morrowind is Boring" move to Diablo, my computer died. Life got busy with student teaching followed by real teaching. That was 8 years ago. How times flies. For the past several years I've been playing Lord of the Rings Online, and am a life member. Last year I started playing Star Wars: the Old Republic and rather enjoy it, though it seems to be more about the money I spend (real money) than about the game. It's okay, if a triffle boring at times, but the adrenal glands get a workout from the stellar soundtrack.
I've worked my way through all of the Dragon's Age games and additional content, a couple of times. Possibly tied for favorite games of all time with the Elder Scrolls games. Each, in its own way, is a top-notch series, though they are as different from one another as they can be, Dragon's Age being about relationships as well as questing where (especially the later games) Elder Scrolls is more about battles and (for me) modding the heck out of the place. As a big fan of the Sims franchise, I love any game that will let me mod my housing interiors (HEY, LotRO, are you listening?) into new and interesting styles, and believe me, I have, all in glorious HD.
On the other side of the graphics spectrum is the Aveyond series. 2d, cheesy music, sometimes silly, but addictive as all get out, as are all the titles from Eridani Games, many of which are available on Big Fish. I am currently playing "The Witch and the Warrior" and have logged over 25 hours in the game. It is classified as "casual PC gaming" but when I get started playing, there's nothing casual about it. Play is reminiscent of old console games with occasional cut scenes.
Each island in the game has progressively harder creatures to battle and, on some islands, I move around the long way to avoid conflict as I know the minute the encounter starts, I'm dead. I keep trying, and keep experiencing the epic fail that is life. I don't mind though, it's fun and takes my mind off grading homework.
I am waiting patiently for Elder Scrolls Online, delayed from June 2013 to whenever. Meanwhile, maybe I'll give Witcher2 a second chance. I didn't much like the new gameplay, which is very different from the original; the learning curve was too steep for me and the frustration level too high. We'll see.
maybe I'll write again, before another 8 years drifts by.
