While I have not tried Vista myself, I see no need to complain about it. Right now is a transitional period. I guess we have all been spoiled so far since Windows NT, 2000, and XP have all been very similar software and there has not been a transition of this magnitude for a while. As long as you are going to use Windows, wait till vista is more the norm, and then upgrade (and probably you should upgrade your hardware too if you haven't by that point). I, on the other hand, will be switching to Linux. I am fed up with the elitist policies and prices of Windows and Mac. I really don't have the money to pay for an expensive system and a VERY expensive OS. Vista is the direct result of a lack of competitive prices because, as consumers, we are not willing to put our foot down and switch, we simply put up with and tell each other to stop complaining. Well as long as we are living in a capitalist society, I am going to act like a true capitalist and go with the better deal. Linux provides a product of equal or better quality and is, of course, free of charge. Despite being a little less user friendly, I think it is the better choice and Vista's price has finally pushed me over the edge to switching. I can't have my cake and eat it too, so I will just have to do a little learning about how to use Linux in this world of a Windows monopoly, and I think by doing so I will be saving my self a lot of money and annoyance in the long run.
All I have to say is I don't have the money to do all the upgrades I need to take advantage of Vista. I get the feeling Microsoft forgot that people have to buy food and pay rent before they can upgrade their computers. No more elitist software for me. While everyone else is spending big bucks to pay for Vista, I'm switching over to the people's OS. Heres to Linux!
