As a burgeoning game developer, I'd like to say that the problems with the industry aren't as black and white at as lot of you have made it seem. Starduke wishes that developers were more creative and that they put creating great games before making money. That's really a Catch 22 because it's difficult to create the type of games we're used to (MMOs,FPS,RTS) without a big budget. The most efficient way to obtain a big budget is by signing up with a publisher, and when you do that, your creative flexibility is heavily compromised. I'd also like to point out that there are many games like Psychonauts and Beyond Good and Evil, that are refreshing, fun, innovative and quite simply, great games, but didn't sell well. As gamers, we don't have the right to attack developers for doing things the way we do when we're not supporting the people who innovate and desire to push the industry forward. Simply put, we are just as much to blame for buying the games we do, than the developers and publishers are for making them. Something we have to realize is that just because a game is great, doesn't necessarily mean it'll sell well, and that's something as gamers that we have to fix.
