Planetside was the best MMO I ever played. A sequel would be phenominal. For now, it looks like WW2 Online is the only good supplement.

I'm having a blast with Monday Night Combat right now. Reccomend it if you enjoy TF2 and DoTA style games.
Guild Wars 2 does indeed look solid. I was actually ignoring its development for the longest time since I wasn't too big of a fan of the first. To my suprise upon seeing some screens and watching a video or two, I was very impressed with what they're trying to make out of the game. GW2 is probably an automatic purchase simply because how easy it is on my wallet to not have to worry about a monthly sub and still play an MMO. As far as the graphics for SW:ToR go, I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I actually like the pictures I've seen. Whether they look catoony/are in alpha testing whatever, they don't look that bad to me.
You can definitely see a resemblence between SW:ToR graphics and, well, all the other BioWare games. The multiplayer aspect is a good cause of concern, seeing as its true that BioWare is known solely because of their SP RPG prowess. I think the continuing subs of this game are going to rely on a solid PvP system, unless somehow they make endgame PvE better than WoWs covetted raiding system.
I've been looking forward to this game above all for about two years now. Seeing as I played both KoTors at least a dozen times each, and played much SWG when I was a kid. I want it to be a bust less than anyone, but like many I have my doubts.
I think the questing in this game is going to be unlike anything we've ever played. That being said, I don't know many MMO players who live to quest. WTB Loremasters.
I agree with you on account of Rift, as well as DCUO for the most part. The only thing that DCUO has hope in is that perhaps its PS3 market takes off, that would be nice to have an MMO for console. Interesting that you brought up GW2. I played the first one a bit but never got that far into it. The second one looks much better, and having read a few of the dev's comments on it it looks like it might show some promise. However like you said no gameplay vids so theres not much to ride on. And I for one am of course a fan of not having to pay per month.
This is probably a bad time to be posting a topic seeing as I was a bit of imput, and maybe a discussion I haven't talked to many people about this game, but I've been following it for a long time. Star Wars: The Old Republic. We've all heard about it, most of us have seen a video, researched a few classes and how the game works. What do you guys think about it? Those of you that have played beta even better, how is it?
Is it a "WoW clone" do you think? And even still, is a "wow clone" bad? (WoW clone is in quotes because thats the most recognized term for a game that follows many MMO standards over the past decade) I read that they use the trifecta class system, tanks/heals/dps. Good or bad I'd be hard pressed to find and MMORPG that didnt follow that system a little bit. A good one, that is.
I also heard that Mythic was developing the PvP system for the game. I played a decent amount of WAR, so I plan to see some pretty solid PvP. My only concern thus far is that the class system has splits or specialties while you're leveling. As much as I enjoy that concept, it makes the game a great deal harder to balance.
I heard one of the battlegrounds (I don't remember the official name so I just go with WoW jargin) included two war ships fighting, while you can defend inside, infiltrate their ship, or fly around in spaceships attacking/defending. I think that's awesome. I played a lot of SWG back in the day before the first combat revamp, and the Jump to Lightspeed expansion pack was probably the best time I've ever had playing an MMO. So I'm excited to see a space system back into the game for a BioWare development.
What do you think? Finally a decent MMO to stick in the market other than WoW or is it a bust? I'm not talking WoW killer here, I don't have any dillusions that WoW willl only kill itself, and while it is indeed doing that, it has much of its life still yet to play out.
I've played SWG, CoH/CoV, Planetside, Matrix Online, EQ1+EQ2, Vanguard Online
