the genny

The more I play my Genesis, it seems like other games for other systems lose their fun. There is just a magic in the games that to me is unmatched by any other system I own. Now, I don't have a SNES or a NES, but to be honest I don't know if i really want to buy one, mainly because it would take me off the Genesis. Now if anyone has game suggestions just post them up....Peace and God bless to all

A true Challenge

For the next year I will be playing nothing but retro games and not only that but on systems older than the game boy color. Since I was kinda gettng bored with the same old gaming habits I wanted to try something different and this was the best that I could come up with. Also this means I get a chance to boycot Gamestop for a year and I am extremely excited about that, mostly because I have been scammed out of a bunch of money by them. Finally if anyone has game/system recommendations for the next year it would be greatly appreciated. Peace and God Bless to all

Is it really that bad to be a legacy gamer?

Considering that I am a legacy gamer by the definitons of this website..I would have to say no. I mean, so many people in the "mainstream" of gaming think anything that came out a year ago is old news.

Well, to me, the older a game is, the more likely I am of not only buying it, but being able to enjoy it because it hasn't been through the nonsense that this generation of gaming has put forth. Lets take Sonic 2 as an example. Sonic 2 had huge expectations, not unlike the expectations on Fable 2 and Gears 2. The difference between those two and Sonic is the people at sega were focused on making a purely fun game. They didn't have to realy worry about how the online features were going to work or meeting a quota for number of NPC's in a game.

I think that a lot of the older games that were more geared in this way; where fun was over all, were made better because the developers didn't have the over-the-top expectations of a "right-now, online, intense, kill em all" base that is just setting themselves up for failure. I was once a part of that culture. I have preordered three games and, in my opinion all three fell short of my expectations (but one wasn't the game's fault). But going back to play those games now, I seem to get a lot more out of them because I don't have the same redunkulous expectations.

To me, the less expectations you have for any type of mass media, the more you are going to enjoy it. An old chinese proverb said "It isn't hard to jump over something on the ground"

the forgotton games of the ps2

What do you guys think are some of the good but forgotton games on the ps2? Personally, I think Shawn Palmers pro snowboarder, Wipeout Fuison and MX Superfly are great candidates for the positon of most overlooked.

great success

Today, I got a N64 (again)! I only got Jet Force Genimi and Madden 99, but still the N64 was my first system at age 7 and while I didn't go complete 64 kid....I was still really happy....now looking back over those 7 (almost 8) years.....and my addiction to games...

I almost went completely N64 Kid today when I got it...but I do have a little bit of self respect...so I didn't. Anyhow, if anyone has reccomendations of any kind for the N64 that would be greatly appreciated.

Peace and God bless to all

the ps1

I have to admit, the Ps1 wan't my first system, but it still has held a place in my heart since I got it over 6 years ago. And in my honest opinion, there isn't another system that will ever top the old playstation. Sure, some people complain about teh graphics, and the numerous other problems that the system has, but the good sides of the system far outshine the system. One of my favorite good sides of the thing is Chrono Cross...which I am playing through for the first time..(have pity on me I was only 7 when it came out:), and I honestly can say that I am having more pure fun with this game alone than half of the ps2 lineup (FFX, Burnout 3, and Madden 04 not included), and it really makes me wonder....

The Begining

WooHoo, my first blog post! I have been gaming for a really long time but I got my first system(N64) almost eight years ago. Currently I own: Sega Genesis, Dreamcast. Sony Playstation 1+2. Nintendo DS and Wii. Hopefully, I will get a Xbox 360 for Christmas so I will finally have moved up to the next gen. I have played a lot of games in all Genres, but My top five are as follows:

5)Burnout 3/NFL Blitz-Two of the best sports/racing games of all time, and Burnout has one of the best Licensed soundtracks of any game ever made.

4)Final Fantasy X-Why I bought a Ps2 at the Tender age of 9, and my First RPG...One of the best EVER

3)Star Wars:KOTOR-The only reason I put this above FFX is the multiple endings/romances...another great RPG and Probably the best Xbox game singleplayer

2)Resident Evil 4-My true introduction into horror games..and it scared me saltless...but an awesome action game

and 1) MGS3:Snake Eater-The first game I actually beat:( but it is the single best game I have ever played. MGS3 had it all..Action, guns, a deep story, Production values through the roof, epic boss battles, and cover to cover it kept me interested.
