My ps3 recently got the YLOD, i've searched in the internet but i really couldn't find a way to backup my save data since putting the HDD on a new ps3 will erase all the data and windows can't recognize the file format.

So, i wanna know, can i backup the data using a linux OS? Will it recognize the file format?

OBS: I can't send it to sony since i live n brazil and this service isn't available here, and i send it to be repaired by a guy, but the man said there is a short circuit in the processor and it can't be repaired.

I would but if u connect the sound directly to ur ps3 i guess u'll have a better experience.

I heard u lose quality if u pass through the TV first as u said, but anyway i'm not sure.

I have a Ps3 and a TV LCD Panasonic Viera and i'm currently using and hdmi cable to connect the Ps3 to the TV.

I'm planning on getting a Home Theater so i can enjoy 5.1 sound, so the question is:

Since the Ps3 has only 1 hdmi port, how am i able to connect the tv an the HT via Hdmi?

I heard that optical audio cables don't support uncompresed PCM and Dolby HD, so i would like to use HDMI for both audio and video.

Is this even possible? How should i setup?

Thanks in advance.
