When you have a country that has blacks, whites, Asians, Hispanics, Inuit, Indians and people, from every where and any where, yes, the US is diverse.

Verge_6

Dude, Europe is easily more diverse than that. You only need to hop the channel to France to see differences, let alone going to Eastern Europe or Spain/Italy.

Do you have any idea how much racial and ethnic diversity is in New York City alone?

Have you seen Bradford, Leeds, or London? It's about as equal to New York City in diversity.

But it doesn't make sense. At all. There's as much diversity, if not more, in America as there is Europe.SF_KiLLaMaN

Are you being serious at all?

Yes, he is. And while it would be hard to tell for sure, the U.S. is made up if many different people. I would easily say that the U.S. is more diverse than Europe.

That is simply not true in any way. Europe has so many different cultures that they are simply not interchangeable. England is not like France in anyway where as France is not like Spain in anyway. There's language barriers, different governments, different currencies, different beliefs that's just to name a few. The most similar country to Britain is the US and we have an ocean between us, whereas it's 35km between England and France and we're vastly different. Britain is in no way culturally European and that alone means you simply can not generalise Europe in any circumstance.

Lol....... Europeans shouldn't be making judgements about America as a whole, period. There's 300 million people in the U.S. I feel embarrassed when Europeans make broad, sweeping generalizations about the U.S. Verge_6

Thats not what I meant, obviously its wrong to generalise people. What I meant was, at least the US is a single country, so to comment on the US, is the same as commenting on any part in the US. Europe however is built of many different countries, each with vast differences. For example, commenting about England would be completely irrelevant to Spain or Portugal. Hope that makes more sense. I'm not condoning generalising people, I'm just saying that at least with the US it makes sense in some way, but is still wrong.

But it doesn't make sense. At all. There's as much diversity, if not more, in America as there is Europe.
As far as I see it and know, the governments involved haven't made a big deal out of it. So my point is, why should we? Oh wait this is the internet and we like to blow stuff out of proportion. HOW DARE OBAMA, THAT TRAITOROUS CRIMINAL SCUM
Jokes are fun, but only in moderation. hahaha possibly foreshadowing puns
But we only knew about this because of a leak. So what we aren't hearing is that it has caused tension.

I will take this opportunity to apologies to those who seem a bit upset of my view which a good percentage share of the US but that's just how it is. flying the flag as a sign of patriotism is silly and claiming that it's flying to show love for your country is beyond ridiculous.

Same could be said for flying a flag. There are people in the U.S. that hate the U.S.SF_KiLLaMaN

Then they probably should leave. Flying a flag makes you no more patriotic than a person who does not.

That is true, just as wearing a shirt of your favorite sports team makes you no more of a fan. You are simply showing your support for the country. This is not that complicated to understand.

But then why did you assume someone not flying a flag makes them not love their country? This could go on all day and we'll still be no closer to an agreement. I'm a very patriotic person in a rather unpatriotic country and I was calling at as a lot of people see it.
I am going to say this one last time. Flying the U.S. flag is a show of support for the U.S. Since a lot of people support the U.S., a lot of people fly the U.S. flag. It is no different than wearing a shirt of your favorite sports team.SF_KiLLaMaN

Except if I didn't wear a shirt, no one would know who I support.

It's naive to show your support for something you love? Hm, that sounds perfectly logical.

SF_KiLLaMaN

I wear a football shirt to show my support of a team... but I live in my country and, if I didn't like my country, I'd move. I'd only be flying a flag if things got to the point where ally and terrorist were indistinguishable.

Wearing a sports shirt is in no way the same as flying a flag, that's a silly comparison. You don't need to support yourself and show your patriotism as EVERYONE knows what country you're in.

Are you sure you weren't visiting during a national holiday? There's no flags where I am, and there are PLENTY of Russian ones to be seen in downtown Volgograd...

I've visited the US 4 times and in some neighbourhoods it was getting to the point of becoming ridiculous. The stars and stripes on every single house, it almost seemed a competition for who could have the biggest flag pole. Also outside schools on big massive poles. It's just so unnecessary.

I am sorry that you dont love your country as much as we do.

Showing love for your country is not based on how big your flag is. This is one of the reasons the US is looked upon badly by some people. Assuming because we don't hang flags from every orifice means we're anti-patriots is shameful. I love my country and the UK, I choose to hang the Union Jack inside my halls of residence on the wall. My Union Jack is the only flag i've seen in a 60 mile radius, I hang it because I love my country and what it represents but I wouldn't dream of hanging in on a flag pole outside. Patriotism is not just hanging a flag on your front door and it's about time some Americans understood this, get a grip and stop being so elitist.
