People tend to have very intriguing stories about how they began to like a company or a product; I have one about how I became a huge fan of Nintendo.
It all started when I was about 4 years old. All of my cousins had a Super Nintendo except for me, so when I would go to their houses I would play from the moment I walked in to their houses till the minute I left. I would love to play games such as Super Mario All-Stars (Super Mario Bros. 3 being my favorite) and Super Mario World as well as the Donkey Kong's which came out later. But in October of 1997 for my 7th birthday my Dad bought me my own Super Nintendo and you would think that that system alone would make me a Nintendo fan for life because the Super Nintendo is the BEST system of all time IMO. But NO I loved my Super Nintendo with all my heart I had a bunch of games but the huge success of the PS1 got to me and I was caught in the craze so in 2001 I sold my SNES to buy a PS1:cry:.BIG MISTAKE!
For some odd reason the PS1 did not appeal to me and I really didn't enjoy it much as I expected to so I sold it in about a year and bought an XBox on my birthday with the help of my Dad's money. And I really enjoyed the Xbox it kept me interested for a while I enjoyed all of the sports games and Halo. But in 2004 I started to feel a little home sick. One of my cousins had purchased a GameCube in 2002 and when I would go over to his house we would play Mario Party 4 and SSBM. This made me miss the Mario games again so in 2004 again on my birthday I asked for a GameCube and I got one. This was the beginning of something special, my return back to Nintendo with the help of my great cousin. So after I got my GameCube I bought almost all of the Mario Games on it, I played through them all and loved most of them. Then I started to loose interest in the GameCube because of the lack of new games so I started to play and but games for my XBox again.
Then last summer came the BIG turn around. My cousin had bought a Nintendo DS the year before and he wanted to buy the DS Lite when it came out but he need to get rid of the original DS so that he would be able to buy it. He offered me if I wanted to buy and at first I said I'll think about. Then with much convincing on his part I agreed. He bought the DS Lite and I bought his DS (best move I have ever made). I fell in love from the moment I got the DS and New Super Mario Bros. That summer was one of the best I had because of my DS and slowly I was going back to being a Nintendo fan. Then as the launch for the Wii drew closer me and my cousin both were getting excited he was definitely going to buy it while I was still a little hesitant. Again my cousin worked his magic and made me fall in love with the Wii. The Wii was the only thing that me and him would talk about for weeks before its launch. Then the faithful day came Saurday Nov. 18th 2006 the night before launch this night was an emotional roller coaster for both me and my cousin because of the Gamespot reviews such as Red Steel and Excite Truck. We were both planning to buy those games but after the reviews came out we were very hesitant. That night on Gamespot's On the Spot Launch of the Wii in NYC we saw the whole show together and we were so excited. I was so excited that I wanted to buy the Wii on launch at our local Circuit City. We stayed up until 3 A.M. that morning of Nov. 19th and when I finally went to bed I was so excited I did not know what to do the next morning to go or not to go? I got up at 6 A.M. and WENT FOR IT.
I went to Circuit City and stood in line for about 4 hrs in the freezing cold in NYC, Queens waiting 54th in line to get my Wii. When I finally got it I was so happy I felt like a 5 Year old on his birthday, it was great. After I bought plenty of games for the Wii I went and bought a DS Lite which was almost the last step for my complete transformation of becoming a Nintendo fan again. The last step I took was selling my XBox. I really loved my XBox but with the combination of the games constantly freezing and me wanting to become a 100% Nintendo fan I sold it. Now that I am 100% of a Nintendo Fan Boy I am happy I went back to my roots in video games. And I want to give a special thanks to my cousin GCCG who made this transformation possible. No that I am back with Nintendo there is no way I will be going back to any of the other companies.
