I'd pass on Wii Play and just buy a second remote and nunchuck. Sure it's a $10 game packaged with a remote, but if you don't get it, that's $10 you'll save on a game that you most likely will only play once.
If you live in a Craigslist friendly area, I'd suggest trying to find a 60GB model on Craigslist. I always see them being sold on there for reasonable prices. Just last week I saw one going for $400(I live in the San Francisco Bay Area). I would have taken it, but I wanted a new 80GB MGS4 bundle. It does require some level of trust to buy from someone off of Craigslist, but that's why I started off with the requirement of your area being Craigslist friendly. My sister got the Zelda DS from someone on Craigslist and she has no complaints.

Awesome, awesome game. My only complaint was the lack of side missions for the other party members, but overall I liked it a lot better than the first one. I liked it so much that I used my trade in credit at EB to get the PC version for my friend.
