[QUOTE="mjarantilla"]ME was only half a game. You could tell it was rushed. The Shadow Broker? The Consort? You can't tell me that these weren't hooks for potentially epic side-quests, or perhaps even main quest missions of their own. BioShockOwnz
There's always areas to improve in every game. I like to spend my time on what was included, though. Complaining only leaves me depressed and eating double chocolate chunk in the corner while writing an emo poem.
I know, but ME was just really really obvious with it. That game is just so full of wasted opportunities that it's frustrating.

I've seen enough of it to know it's limitations. I don't care if you can "record" your own "compositions," you're still severly limited by the rigid structure of the game design, which is not something that creativity can really flourish in.Samurai_Xavier
Its not limited for what it is. Wii Music was never set to be a game where you write and compose music from scratch, if you approach it that way then yes its limited...but its your fault that you find it that way.
And as far as creativity goes you have more than 60 instruments, it has a six-member band which you can costumize individually at will within any of the 50 songs the game offers. On top of using your instruments of choice you also control the tempo and pitch of all the songs giving the player the oportunity to change the mood and style at will. All this combined makes this game rich as far as creativity goes considering the type of game it is. There will never be two songs that sound the same, not with all those variables.
I'm all for little children playing with it, because we all know they love coloring books and the like, but I don't think it has any merit as a creative medium through which to express any sort of musical idea.piano_pimp
Why only little children? You speak of coloring books but the same doesnt apply to music. Almost everybody has easy access to paper and crayons from very early on, its cheap and easier to "learn". The same thing doesnt happen with music and learning to play an instrument. That requires discipline, alot more time and alot more money. So as far as the average Joe is concerned their "coloring book" phase might be in their 20s, 30s, 80s, etc...
And yes, i know a little something about music composition myself.piano_pimp
Congratulations ?
So in the end, after you make your "compositions" and everything. What are you left with? What comes next? Are you going to feel like a true musician now that you took a song and changed its instruments and tempo? Will you be making compositions on Wii Music forever?
Wii Music does not look like a satifying experience at all. It looks extremely bland, limited, and the worst part, it does not look like fun. For most upcoming games (even bad games), you see gameplay videos and trailers, no matter what game, at some point of the video you will find something that might look fun to play. I cant find that anywhere in Wii Music.
It looks like an introduction. That's all it claims to be, and as a video game, that's all it should be. For most people, an introduction will be enough. Just like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, except Guitar Hero and Rock Band both cover different aspects of the musical experience from Wii Music.
[QUOTE="PS3Breeder"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"][QUOTE="PS3Breeder"]no microcrap just rushes out games.BioShockOwnz
Lol, no.
its true though look at Mass effect and Lost ODyssey.
Errr, what about 'em? ME and LO are great games. I can look at Haze and Gundam on PS3, too. I can name crappy games on every single system, so to target one of the companies is laughable.

[QUOTE="mjarantilla"][QUOTE="nintendo-4life"][QUOTE="Heydanbud92"][QUOTE="nintendo-4life"]doesn't guitar hero cater for both groups? :?nintendo-4life
yes. but it's not made by nintendo so it doesn't get as much praise from crazy nintendo fanboys like the TC.
honestly though, I feel that Wii Music is indeed an original concept and it could have worked wonders if done right. For instance, they could have delayed it till the release of Wii Motion plus to execute more rhythm than just sticking to the script. They could have upped the music to orchestrated sound so the overall theme could be better. They should have made a create mode where you improvise as much as you want. And finally.. Official DLC with upgraded song lists. All of these things are missing from Wii music, but the idea is still fantastic IMO.
That would've made it more difficult to play and execute good-sounding songs. Maybe they'll do that with Wii Music 2.
that's a GOOD thing. No, it's not. Not for what Nintendo wants to achieve with Wii Music. Not every game has to be a competition to be won, or a challenge to be overcome.

It's an indulgence in a common creative fantasy, not a real creative medium. You don't expect masterpieces of film direction from "The Movies" players, do you?
if it's a "musical fantasy" game, then it's in the same genre as guitar hero, without the necessity of good rhythm or muscle memory. You're making a ridiculous claim you really can't back up.
If it's in the same overall genre as Guitar Hero, then so be it, but it's still in a different sub-genre, because it appeals to a different fantasy. Like I said in my very, very first post, Guitar Hero and Rock Band, etc., are about imitation. You hit a few notes, wiggle (instead of waggle :P) the whammy bar a couple of times, and you either get it right or you get it wrong.
If you're a musician (I'm assuming, the piano? :P), you've never tried adding a couple of extra notes here and there to the composition in front of you? That's the experience Wii Music tries to recreate, but without the inconvenience of having to read and play the static composition itself. You're telling me you get absolutely no creative satisfaction from that whatsoever?
yes, i can improvise, and it's very satisfying, but noodling around with the wii-mote is nothing like it. It's like drawing the man's shirt red in a coloring book, when some other kid colors it brown. I'm sure pre-schoolers will love it, and they have a right too. It's just a waste of time for anyone else as a creative outlet.
Sorry to hijack your thread, I'm just really opinionated about this game. Good night everyone.
So you agree that the act of improvisation is a creatively satisfying experience? Gotcha. That's all i wanted to know. Thanks for your support in this matter![QUOTE="mjarantilla"][QUOTE="piano_pimp"][QUOTE="Fawlcon_Pawnch"][QUOTE="piano_pimp"]I'm sorry TC, but wii music is the musical equivalent of a coloring book. Good. Give us some hands-on
