Thanks for the replies. I've decided to crossfire two6850s. Would a 700W PSU suffice for two of these?

I'm currently deciding whether to get a MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III factory OC, or crossfire 2 6850s. For the long run, crossfiring seems like the best idea, but the second PCIe slot on my motherboard is x4, so I'm a bit hesitant. It seems more suited for single-card setups, and the MSI 6950 is looking pretty good, in addition to OC'ing it a bit further. On Newegg, the 6950 is 300 with tax while 2 6850s is around 330-360. I want to upgrade to a setup that can last at least for 2 years and run most games (Battlefield 3) on high-very high. My setup would be the following:
ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T BE Thurban 3.2 ghz
MSI R6950 TF III FE OC or 2 Radeon HD 6850s
6gb DDR3 1600 mhz
640gb HDD
Corsair 700W
I also want to mention that I'm perfectly content with the 1600 x 900 resolution I'm playing at now and don't plan on bumping to 1080p for a long time, if that helps. Because of that and my motherboard, I'm leaning towards the single-card, but I wanted some opinions, just in case. Any help is appreciated, and please excuse my ignorance.
Never gonna happen, though it would be nice. User input would make the next Smash Bros. a true competitive game up there with Street Fighter. The reason games like SC2 had such a good multiplayer is because balance is more or less shaped by the players. Again, it'll without a doubt never happen as Nintendo just doesn't work like that as they're completely ignorant of user opinion, but it'd be beneficial nonetheless.
I'll be starting my first year of college soon and need to buy a laptop. Since I'll be bringing my gaming rig, I don't necessarily need a high-end laptop, something small and mobile as I'll primarily be using it for school and light gaming. I was wondering if thislaptop would be able to run something like SC2 or TF2 on medium settings. Any help is appreciated, as I'm a complete newb when it comes to laptop specs.
Radeon HD 5770. It was a good, cheap DX 11 card at the time. Now, I'm regretting my decision.
ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3
AMD Athlon II X4 645 @ 3.1GHz
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1gb
Kingston 4gb 1600mhz DDR3 RAM
Cooler Master 500W
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
I'm currently running on a 19" HP monitor at 1600x900 and 60Hz. I'm planning on picking up a new monitor, something along the lines of this, both for the higher resolution and higher refresh rate to reduce chance of screen-tearing. I'd just like to know if I can get a stable FPS on games like Portal 2, StarCraft 2, or Bad Company 2. All help is appreciated.
I plan to hook my PC to a Samsung Class LCD TV (1080p, 60Hz) through an HDMI cable. Although my desktop monitor is displaying at 720p (highest it can go), does that mean I am restricted to 720p resolution on the Samsung LCD? Or would I still be able to display 1080p? I'm aware they are two separate monitors and that I can configure the resolutions through ATI's CCC, but I just want to make sure.
Also, since both monitors are running at 60Hz, do I specifically need a 60Hz HDMI cable to connect both the PC and HDTV, or does it not matter? Speaking of HDMI cables, is there anything specific to look for when purchasing them besides length?
Thanks in advance. Apologies for the ignorance. I'm very incompetent with these things.
So I plan to build a new desktop with the only part transferring from my old desktop being the hard drive. Windows Vista is already on there and I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. Turns out I need Windows installed first on the hard drive before installing my Windows 7 copy. So should I upgrade to Windows 7 first then put the hard drive into the new build?
I'm also switching from AM2+ to AM3 and DDR2 to DDR3 if that helps. As you can tell, I'm am in no way an expert on computers, so any help is appreciated.
Then it's decided. Ultimate it is. Thanks for the input, guys.
DO NOT use Win7 Ultimate, unless you have read wikipedia on the features and you totally know what you are doing. But, my bet is, you only need Home PreniumEdition..
magicalclick
Yeah. Home Premium should be enough, except I can get Ultimate cheaper and I'm a bit tight on my budget since I'm building a comp from scratch. Wouldn't I be good with Ultimate as long as I don't touch all the extra features like BitLocker Drive Encryption? I do want to utilize my quad-core better as well.
