I'm mostly looking forward to discovering some unknown gem that's totally slipped my radar. And for the editor anticipating Rock Band 3 (Or was it Guitar Hero 2344636?).. WTF? How utterly visionless must you be to have THAT as your most anticipated? Boggles my mind. And the rest: Gears of War 3? GT5? Civ 5? DO you really think you need E3 to get a peek at these games? These are games where the hype is already through the roof! They'll be getting TONS of attention, regardless! Try to focus on something else than the biggest blockbusters, FOR ONCE.
You get FOUR 5870's for the price of three GTX480's, and Crossfire supports 4-way, so why not make that comparison instead? Would have been more interesting.
So the stuff you Gamespot editors most look forward to are the most hyped products of the year, the same ones we'll be seeing tons of stuff from in any case? That's kind of sad. Myself, I'm hoping to find those diamonds in the rough types of games, the ones that passes underneath the radar, the ones that use E3 as their place to shine. I'm not interested in reading the umpteenth article describing Guitar Hero 5.. the almost exact same game as last year except slightly more milked this year.
How odd. In almost all the examples shown, I thought the Gears of War shots looked better than the Gears of War 2 ones? Sharper with more clever colour choices.
How can releasing better hardware be a bad thing? I think it's good that they keep the PSP fresh with the latest technology. I mean, even if you bought an older PSP, at the time you bought it it was good enough for you. What has changed? It should still be good enough for you!
I sure as hell isn't switching to Vista yet. I see no reason to. I happen to hate expensive bloatware with no extra value added, just a different version of the same OS so a company will have yet another useless cash cow to milk for five years. Vista only takes a LOT more system resources but gives nothing back. I'm hoping this will lead somewhere eventually: http://www.reactos.org/
I honestly didn't see much difference between any of the three versions. But that's more of a compliment to how awesome Halo looked when it arrived than a bash on how Halo 3 looks today.
When I was young we had Commodore 64's with tape players to load our games. One problem with the tape player was that it had a small hole where you could adjust the magnetic reading head of the player. There was also a weird German program called "Recorder Justage" that was used to fine tune that head. I don't know how many hours of my youth I've spent sitting there with a tiny screwdriver, trying to get the latest game to work. Not only were the loading times 10 minutes or more, sometimes it wouldn't show that it was failing until just when the game was about to start, which forced you to restart the whole process of fine tuning that head again. Once you had started messing with that head, you never really got it to work with all games again. It was a constant struggle from game to game.
I have a few extra coins to spend this month and since Gothic 3 is coming in three weeks, I am considering getting a Sapphire Radeon X1950XTX 512 MB GDDR4 for my Core 2 Duo E6600 system. Kind of stupid, what with DirectX 10 cards looming on the horizon (G80 and R600), but I just can't help myself. Apparently Gothic 3 is supposed to be a system hog to put even Oblivion in shame. Lovely!
