I appreciate that you're trying to be magnanimous on this, and it's tough to sift through all the baseless rantings of the young'uns on this board, but I'm going to echo those who say that you'll regret trading it in.  Especially the guy who said it usually takes about a year for a console to pick up steam - that's really true.  It was for sure with all three Playstations and both Xboxes.  But also, Mario Galaxy should be enough to look forward to on it's own - everyone game journalist whose previewed it says it's going to be incredible.  Also, there really are plenty more 3rd party titles to look forward to than there were on Gamecube.  Zak and Wiki will be awesome, No More Heroes has a lot of potential, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Geometry Wars, MySims.  There's something for everyone.  Plus, the folks at IGN have hinted several times at 3rd party projects we don't know about yet that have lots of potential.  And who doesn't want to be there when Mario and Sonic star in their first game together, at the Olympics no less! (I love the Olympics)  And that's all besides all the Nintendo projects we have to look forward to.  Obviously Galaxy, and Prime 3 will be amazing as well.  I'm looking forward to Smash Bros., probably not as much as everyone else, but seemingly more than you.  And you know they'll have online Mario Kart and Animal Crossing, if you like those sorts of things.  And hopefully F-Zero.  And another Zelda at some point.  Really, you should just sit tight, because you'll wish you were playing several of these games if you didn't have the console.
But beyond all that, I don't know what your history with these old games are, but there are several more virtual console games you should be playing right now, and there will eventually be dozens that will be worth a download.
And plus, as for games to own right now, I love SSX Blur.  If you liked those games, but didn't play SSX 3 all that much (cause they have mostly the same tracks), you will love this game.  It's true, some of the later uber tricks are impossiible to pull off, but you can get the first few to the point where you can do it every time, and that is so satisfying.  And the tilt control for steering is excellent, especially because you can set the amount that your tilt controls the steering versus how much moving the analog stick does so.  I don't like flicking the wiimote to jump, but I just use the A button like in the old games.
And one more thing, if you haven't heard of Zak and Wiki, or dismissed it cause of its stupid name, definitely read up on it.  I think it's going to be the first great low-to-mid 9-point original third party game for the Wii.  Again, the IGN people have a lot to say about it, so read up on it over there.
Hope I've helped persuade you to stick it out!

I LOVE Kirby Canvas Curse, it's probably my favorite DS games.  If you like platformers at all, check that one out.  If you're a very skilled gamer, you'll probably blow through it pretty quick, but it's definitely fun enough to make you want to complete every single challenge.

Kirby Canvas Curse!  It's definitely my favorite DS game.  If you like platformers...  But it makes great use of the stylus and touch screen.I also love the Castlevania games.  Both of them are really good.  But seriously, go with Kirby CC, you won't be disappointed.  Go to metacritic.com and see; 44 of the 48 reviewers (including all the credible ones) gave it 4 out of 5 stars or better.

I still have mine; got it a month after it first launched, it still works great.  Although I'll never call it that ever.

Definitely Kirby Canvas Curse!  That is absolutely my favorite DS game.  If you like platformers, you'll love it.  None of these guys have played it I'm sure (save the one guy who recommended it) cause they would recommend it too.  Even that one guy who said "if you want to get a feel for the ds..." blew it.  CC is definitely the perfect game to "get a feel" for the ds.  It's a platformer controlled entirely by the stylus, and the control is perfect!
Anyway, other than that, I'd say go with Castlevania and NSMB.  I never understood the fun of Pokemon...

If we're all sharing our stories about how we got lucky and got a Wii, I thought I'd share too since I felt pretty lucky myself...
I got on the preorder line at Game Stop about four minutes after the store was scheduled to open.  They started letting people in the store one at a time a half hour later, and I was number 23 on the list for 32 preorders.  If I had gone to the EBGames upstairs, I would have been screwed - they only had 18 preorders available.
I was lucky to have been able to walk 5 minutes from my apartment to the largest retailer by volume in the city.  This compensated for my lax and lazy manner.
I love Philadelphia; I will miss it...

I was going to say RE4, Okami, and Twisted Metal Black, but it seems that you have RE4 and Okami taken care of.  Good work!  But yeah, Twisted Metal is awesome.  I found it to be a bit difficult, but hella-fun.  I haven't played it in years though, I traded it in when I traded my first PS2.  I wonder how it would stack up today...
