this summer

here's what i've been watching

DAWSON'S CREEK

i've been watching it for months and i'm just ten episodes away from finishing! season 5 and 6 are nowhere near as good as the first four, but 6 is still better than the horrid season 5.

NIP/TUCK

oh man, this show is effing amazing. i love it to death. i bought the dvds and caught up and loved every minute. nip/tuck had my jaw on the floor and i really wish i didn't have to wait so long to see more! i'm happy about the set enddate though, the show will end properly, the way it should.

DARIA

watched the first three seasons and i'm gonna start the fourth very, very soon. i love this show and i wish they would release it on dvd already!

FREAKS AND GEEKS

watched the first few and it's an awesome show, just haven't had time to finish yet.

POPULAR

already seen every single episode, just rewatching them in order. ugh, forgot how much i loved it though. ryan murphy is god (for this and nip/tuck).

WEEDS

season 4 just might be the best ever, every single episode has been amazing and the stories this year are soo good. and they just announced it'll be getting two more seasons! hallelujah!

anyways, just thought i would update, i don't use the site much anymore but i do log in sometimes. a bunch of people have been posting lists of their tv on dvd collections on their blog on the site so i might do the same right after this. sounds interesting ;)

what i'm watching

i haven't updated here since before the strike started and now it's over so i thought i would just tell everyone what i've been watching lately.

shows i caught up on during the strike:

weeds (season four will be very, very interesting! i'm glad they're changing the location of the show but season three wasn't as good as the first two so i hope the series goes out on a high note after this season)

south of nowhere (first they cancelled it. than they pushed the airdate back. twice. i just hope all these retrospectives and extras they're talking about doing are worth it)

instant star (see above. instant star only got pushed back once and i'm hoping it won't pull a south of nowhere and air even later than the summer)

friday night lights (best drama ever. glad to know that season three is a go)

smallville (i don't understand why every one of my friends that i talk to about this show hates it. seven years later and it still has original amazing storylines that keep you at the edge of your seat. i'm sticking through this one 'til the end. i just hope the cw comes to their senses soon and books justin hartley to do a green arrow spinoff)

dexter (this show had been at the back of my mind for almost a year before i sat down and blew through the first two seasons. it's so different and amazing, i just love it. i'm trying to read the second book now. the first one was great but i'm not liking the plot of the second one so far. i much prefer the tv show)

after the strike:

lost (i've been following it week-to-week since i caught up in the summer and this season is without a doubt one of the best ones. it really feels like the story is finally coming together and now the writers have a plan to follow. the month-long wait will pass by really fast, since the last hiatus was almost a year long)

miss guided (my favourite show that came out of the 2007-2008 season! besides gossip girl of course. it doesn't have a lot of laugh out loud moments but every minute of it is entertaining to watch. sadly, it's one of those shows that i watch knowing that there wont be any more of it to enjoy after these seven episodes. i really doubt that abc will pick this gem up for a second season)

the return of jezebel james (i'll admit at first it seemed awful, but it's actually not that bad. it has some good funny moments. the actors and premise are spectacular but i think it would've been better suited being a dramedy on a network like gilmore girls was. oh, and the laughtrack just sucks)

dawson's creek (i totally ran out of shows to watch and i was in the mood for a sappy teen drama. hence dawson's creek. i'm at the beginning of season two and i'm totally hooked. it's not as good as the oc or veronica mars but it's something right?)

the hills (it's back! i really liked the first episode but am i the only one who thought lauren would be staying in paris just a little bit longer than a week?)

other:

prison break is bringing back sara! this was wonderful news to me when i heard it and i'm glad that it's believable. i wouldn't be on board with this if the death was more shown to be more concrete in the show. oh and the cherry hill spinoff is confirmed. i honestly don't think it'll be that bad.

i was thinking of watching all the episodes of private practice again because i think it'll be different and better when i'm paying more attention to it. same with dirty sexy money.

i'm gonna watch the last few episodes of every show that comes back in april when they're about to come back. that means gossip girl, grey's anatomy, ugly betty etc.

i still have to watch those last two episodes of chuck that aired.

premiere reviews

MONDAY
PRISON BREAK: i've said it before and i'll say it again, i like the idea of sona but on screen it's really obnoxious and loud to watch. i'm not interested in the whole whistler thing and the escape this time around. hate to say it but i'm liking lincoln's storylines better this year, with that girl (does anyone sense a little bit of sexual tension with them or is it just me?) i'm too invested in the story to drop the show but this season isn't as good as season one or two.

CHUCK: just watched the pilot today. loved it. it really felt like a josh schwartz show. the comedy and the action aspect come together really well and the cast is awesome (i don't like morgan though, he's so annoying) the ending of the episode was kind of corny and weird but i am excited to see where the show goes and i'm a bit confused to see how the series will play out. i hope it's not procedural like every week chuck sees something and prevents something from happening.

TUESDAY
GOSSIP GIRL (CANADA):
i love this show. it's a replacement of the oc for me. i really missed the rich kids getting away with stuff and getting themselves into relationship trouble. the second episode was heaps better then the pilot but i'm afraid it might face an early cancellation if ratings aren't good. it's awesome to hear kristen bell's voice again and i love the feisty aspect of her voiceovers in this show. the cast of this show is also incredible. it's just so fresh, light and fun, i love it.

HOUSE: i've seen one episode of this show before, and i actually liked it quite a bit. this episode was really boring though. i don't know how people can watch this show without feeling bored or annoyed. hugh laurie is a good actor but his character gets on my nerves a lot. i was originally going to follow this show but i've decided to drop it. i can see why people would like it, it has great writing and i respect that, but it's just not for me. i might just turn it on in the background occasionally if i have nothing to do.

WEDNESDAY
PRIVATE PRACTICE:
you know what, i liked it. it felt like an average episode of grey's anatomy, which was kind of annoying but felt sort of safe. seeing them go to the hospital and stuff, i mean. i love addison and i love the idea of her having her own show but it's risky. shonda will have to work hard to make sure it's a different show from grey's and that it has a different premise. having a grey's duplicate with a different name just so addison can have her own spinoff isn't right and i'm hoping that they will get into some stuff not related to surgery but related to alternative medicine next week.
DIRTY SEXY MONEY:
this is possibly....actually let's make that a probably, probably my favourite pilot of this year. i loved the whole aspect of this rich family just playing with money like a toy and then calling peter krause's character (nick?) to fix it up a bit. i loved the quick writing and fast funny movement of this episode. i'm hoping the show won't go stale after a while. the acting on this show rocks. seriously. peter krause and the darlings have great chemistry. i especially loved the scene where he got phone calls from them all (with different ringtones haha) and then they showed him getting them out of something. hilarious.

THURSDAY
UGLY BETTY:
awesome premiere. you guys know i love this show. it's so bright and colourful. it never fails to put a smile on my face. umm, not much to say about this episode. it felt like just a regular episode of season one, which is a good thing. i like shows to be consistent throughout. santos' death was so sad. and they made us think he was alive during the episode and then revealed he was dead, which was so bad. they should've just pulled the bandaid off at the beginning! alexis not remembering that she got the sex change? that's major drama. i wonder if she will want to get another sex change to a boy again. that'll be weird. so yeah, just another episode of ugly betty. and that's a very good thing.

GREY'S ANATOMY: this was a great episode to start off a season that will (hopefully) redeem the show's depressing third season. i love the new interns. there's just something about having them there that makes the show more lively. lexie grey = awesome. she's like a meredith without all the drama and dark 'n' twistyness. i'm getting sick of george and izzie. seriously. i think they should get married and just move away so i don't have to see them. i'm excited for the merder 'broken-up relationship' it'll be hilarious. umm not much else to say except i'm glad the show is back and i'm glad it's fun again.

THE OFFICE: ah, the office, my favourite comedy ever. i ordered season two on dvd so it should be coming any time now. great episode. it was consistently funny which is hard to find in comedies these days. it felt a lot like season two, very open and fresh. season 3 felt kind of dark and cramped. i think it's safe to say jam has become pb&j now. i love that they're in a relationship. it takes that huge damper off the show. not much to say about it...it was just, sigh, the office. *smiles*

so yes, this will be a great year for television. i'll post next week about brothers & sisters and pushing daisies.

school, prison break, fall tv plans

SCHOOL: i never really talk about anything besides tv here (because it is a tv site ;)) but i thought i'd quickly mention how well school is going. i'm having loads of fun and my classes rock this semester. it's just exhausting being there all day and then coming home and doing homework, but i'm dealing with it. only one year after this one and i'm off to college.

PRISON BREAK: i finished season two of prison break on monday, so i'm officially caught up. i thought season one would be my favourite but season two is so much better, it feels more well-rounded and the run had lots of quick turns. i think the flaws and stuff that kept coming up during the escape in season one was what made it a lot worse to tell you the truth. season two had a lot of unrealistic escapes too, but i absolutely loved the middle of the season. actually, i remember watching and thinking how terrible the season got after episode 18. it just felt forced after that point. as for season three, i have pretty low expectations considering this season was supposed to be like a two season miniseries. i watched the first seventeen minutes and found the whole thing really boring and it didn't fit into the rest of the show. i really like the idea of sona, but on screen it just doesn't play out as well. i'm really excited for the rest of this series though. a few more things: i heard sarah wayne-callies isn't coming back and i'm firmly denying believing that for now, as far as i know she has a contract and she'll be back (if not in the beginning, in the end of season three). and also, as much as i love cooper on private practice, the death of paul kellerman really saddened me. that was one great character.

FALL TV PLANS: since i'm finished prison break, i decided to move on to heroes. i haven't actually started watching yet, but i have the first 3 episodes lying around. i think i can catch up in time for the premiere, so that's all good. as for brothers & sisters and friday night lights, i'll probably just wait it out and catch up during christmas break and then go forward from there. i think i might be watching too much television this year. *counts to himself* in total it'll be 10 hours. which i think isn't that bad for a whole week right? i really don't watch reruns or anything like that. oh, i decided to drop moonlight. looked kind of stupid. so prison break, heroes, the hills, gossip girl, pushing daisies, private practice, ugly betty, grey's anatomy, the office, brothers & sisters, and friday night lights. sound good?

summer update no. 2

i've caught up on most of the shows i wanted to catch up on for the fall. including lost, ugly betty and the office. i also finished six feet under, which has become my favourite series of all time. it's just so good. i'm watching prison break right now, almost finished season one. it's a really good show and it sucks i didn't jump on the bandwagon earlier. anyways, just wanted to update, i've been busy seeing as the summer is almost over. here's what i'll be watching:

MONDAY
prison break

the hills

TUESDAY

gossip girl (in canada it's a day earlier!)

WEDNESDAY

pushing daisies

private practice

THURSDAY

ugly betty

grey's anatomy

FRIDAY

moonlight

friday night lights (maybe)

SUNDAY

brothers and sisters

summer update.

i added a new banner and icon. i was getting pretty sick of seeing cristina in her wedding dress. the new one is from six feet under, which i'm catching up on through the series set i got. it's a great show and i'm currently on season two. i caught up on lost. pretty big moment for me considering i've been trying to catch up since like 2005. the finale was just amazing, but then again, they always are. i'm gonna get into the habit of reviewing and submitting again because my participation in the site has come to an alltime low. i reviewed kyle xy and i might write some more soon so stay tuned for those. i'm torn on what to catch up on next. my mind is telling me to get prison break over with, so that i can watch more comedic and relaxing shows after, but my heart is telling me big love.

just wanna mention how much i miss veronica mars. i keep thinking that it's gonna be back like usual but it's really over. i will be picking up the third season set in october just to continue the tradition of getting them when they come out. i'm dealing with gilmore girls' loss better. i've been casually choosing and watching random discs from seasons one-six from my season sets, which is actually more fun then watching season to season. it's also odd because i miss the oc more then gilmore girls. i watched some season one clips on youtube and i miss everything the show was back then.

as for regular watch-an-episode-anytime television i've been pvring what i like about you. it's currently on season three so i have to put up with stupid ben. i also watched a bit of ready or not and degrassi junior high online. god i miss both shows like crazy. watching degrassi was really fun seeing as i haven't seen the old ones a lot. haha shane mckay wasn't a laugh riot back then! anyways, i'll update once or twice as the summer continues and i'm gonna review some stuff too.

season finale reviews.

it's strange how three of the only four shows i actually followed this year ended. i'm sad about the oc (does anyone feel like the show ended last tv season?), veronica mars, and gilmore girls ending, but i'm glad the series finales satisfied me. the oc ended the way it started, which is basically awesome. i liked where all the characters ended up and it provided conclusion without major 7th heaven moments. gilmore girls didn't end with those last four words that often make me bang my head against the wall, but it tied up the 3 major original storylines the show focused on. veronica mars, ah veronica mars. you never fail to amaze me. the finale was simply fantastic. though it ended without any conclusion, it was unbelievably realistic and truly brought up the point that even after everything that has happened, the '09ers are still '09ers and veronica and her dad are still the marshmallow and the bungling local sheriff that went after the wrong man, which is...life. the grey's anatomy season finale rocked. i don't care what anyone says but i like shonda's plan to "burn the house down". lexie grey is gonna be one of my new favourite characters, i can sense it because it's chyler leigh *misses reunion*. i'm glad burktina didn't get married. he was really changing her. as for merder, i'm on team derek. the office was great! all i have to say is "it's a date!"

next year i'll be watching grey's anatomy, the office, private practice, and gossip girl. i'm planning to catch up on lost, friday night lights and ugly betty so i can watch those too. not sure if i'll like friday night lights though.

i have the pilot of hidden palms lying around on my pvr but i haven't gotten time to watch it. i'll review it for sure after i watch it though.

ugly betty

ugly betty has easily become my favourite new show of this year. it's hilarious! i've been downloading it and putting it on my iPod.

i heart tuesday: veronica mars

I cannot wait for Tuesday. Veronica Mars is starting up again. I miss my show so much. Just wanted to say that I love the new opening credits too. I'm so torn on the 3 mystery format this season. I like it in the sense that they'll get wrapped up faster and we won't have to wait 9 months to find out what really happened. I hate it in the sense that it seems like they'll feel less important because they'll be over faster. I'm sure this season is going to be great though, from what i've read anyway. I can't wait. I'll review it when it airs.
