Exactly 1 month from today, my Mario 3D World and A Link Between Worlds preorders will arrive at the same time.
Just when I thought I was getting caught up. I've actually been pretty good with my finishing all my purchases this year up until now. I fear for the three big Wii games which I haven't finished yet... looking at you SMG2, Xenoblade and Pikmin 2.
For everyone that didn't know, Future Shop/Best Buy here in Canada offered a promotion during E3 where you could preorder multiples of 3 new releases and get them all for 33% off. Obviously, I took advantage of such a great deal but perhaps went kind of overboard. Not in terms of money but getting ahead of myself in terms of what i'd actually be able to play.
I had originally ordered the following sets of 3:

Super Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong Country
Assassins Creed 4 (Wii U), Watch Dogs (Wii U), Mario Kart 8
Pikmin 3, X, Professor Layton & the Azran Legacies
Mario & Luigi, A Link Between Worlds, Bravely Default
As of last night, I have cancelled the last two.
Why?Â
Order 4 was originally meant for Pikmin 3. I was gonna cancel the order once I got my Pikmin 3 for $40. Right now, i'm currently playing through Pikmin 2 (Wii) and the P3 release has kinda crept up on me. Needless to say, i'm not ready for more Pikmin next week. :P
Mario & Luigi was cancelled because it's too long. Yeah, that's right. I just got SMT4 yesterday and between that and my current backlog, adding the longest M&L game ever next month would not have helped things. As for Zelda 3DS, I don't feel like doing back-to-back Zelda games. I've also never played top-down Zelda before so i'm not sure how I would like it. It seems that 3DS games go on sale quite often compared to typical Nintendo first party games in the past so I might just get them later.
Between SMT4, Ace Attorney 5 and Pokemon Y, I should be good with 3DS games. It's the Wii U I want to be supporting this holiday! :D
The one thing I regret not ordering is Wonderful 101. That games appeal and awesomeness didn't hit me till after E3. An order of SMT4, W101, Bravely Default would've been awesome. :P I was kinda thinking of getting SMT4 during E3 but was intimidated by the difficulty. Too bad we didn't know about the $30 Club Nintendo promo back then!
My poor wallet can't take all this awesomeness that you're dishing out this year (and next!). Just when I think I have a ton of 3DS games to get, you come out and announce EVEN MORE stuff that I want.
Now I have a gut feeling they're gonna push me over the fence with Wii U at E3. Dammit Nintendo, you and your irresistable games.
2013 is gonna be such an awesome year for the 3DS!
I currently own 9 3DS titles and i'm definitely gonna be adding another 5 to the collection this year and that's based on what we know of so far. I've already got them all preordered. There's no doubt that there will be some new surprises coming out from Nintendo during the holiday season which we'll probably see at E3. That's not counting some of the third party games that might be announced and/or localized.
I'm actually thinking of upgrading to a 3DS XL this year with all these great games coming. I might just wait it out and see if they do any special editions for the XL or bundle it with one of my anticipated games. If not, I suspect we're gonna at least see some additional colors for the XL here in North America.
I must say i've really been enjoying my 3DS a lot lately. It's not just because of all the great games either. I've been kind of busy these days and i've really come to appreciate playing on a handheld as of late. It's easy to play in short bursts on train rides or during breaks between classes. I'm actually enjoying handheld gaming more than consoles these days.
Now, as for the games i'm toally hyped for:

It's that time of year again. Christmas is right around the corner, i'm doing last minute studying for finals as usual and I finally have some free time for my mountain of unplayed games. Right now, i'm in the process of playing and plan to complete the following before school starts again:
Pokemon Black 2 (DS)
Paper Mario Sticker Star (3DS)
Assassin's Creed III (PS3)
Sleeping Dogs (PC)
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)
Mass Effect 1 (PS3)
Seems like a pretty ambitious list but compared to my entire backlog, this seems manageable at least. I've already gotten a decent start on a number of them so hopefully I can finish em all! :D
Oh, and my copy of NSMB2 and Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask arrived in the mail yesterday. These two weren't super high on my wishlist but I wound up getting em' cheap so I figured why not. I haven't always been a big fan of 2D Mario games (*gasp*), probably kuz i'm not that great at em :P. I've played NSMB2 for a bit and it's actually been quite fun.
So, what is everyone else playing during the holidays? :D
It's that time of year again! Lots of new games are coming out, lots of games are going on sale and lots of games sitting in my backlog not getting played. :P
On the bright side, there's significantly less stuff coming out this holiday season that i'm interested in. Normally, that would be a bad thing but this year, i'm kinda appreciating the lack of games.

PC: I missed out on the Steam Summer Sale this year so i'm sure there's gonna be tons of deals i'll want to snag during the holidays. Some games i'll be looking out for are: Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Sleeping Dogs, Darksiders 2, Portal 2, Torchlight 2, L.A. Noire.
Honestly, I could not buy a single game in 2013 and probably still have games leftover to play. Too bad the reason i'm not buying much this year is kuz it's all been pushed back to next year. :|
Sony had reduced the MSRP of a number of PS3 and Vita games this past week and I wound up picking up a few games for my PS3 collection. At 20 bucks a piece, i`d say it`s a pretty decent haul.
Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition
I had played GT5 previously but traded it in for credit during the holidays for $25. I`ve been craving some racing action lately and picking up the XL edition with bonus content for less than what I traded it in for is a pretty good deal.
Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception
I`ve already "watched" a playthrough of Uncharted 3 so the story has already been spoiled but I wouldn't mine playing it through myself. I didn't want to spend too much for a 8-10 hour campaign but at 20 bucks, i'd say it's worth it.
Jak & Daxter HD Collection
Never played these games back on the PS2 so they're new to me. From what i've seen, looks pretty fun and it'll be nice to play some more "cartoony" games on my PS3 for once.
Speaking of collections, i'm thinking of picking up the Sly Collection and Ratchet & Clank HD Collection (out later this month) as well. Missed both of these series on the PS2 along with Jak and it'd nice to see what all the fuss is about. Some people might call them cash-grabs but I really enjoy and appreciate these HD collections; although that's probably because i've missed out on most of them in the past.
Let me just say it now: my wishlist for this year doesn't even come close to last years. In the grand scheme of things, I am looking forward to a lot of great looking games. Unfortunately, it would seem that pretty much all of them aren't coming out this year. Still no Animal Crossing 3D dangit... :evil:

Just picked up Diablo 3 today, so very excited! :D
I love the awesome box that it came in. I was also quite surprised to find what was inside the standard edition. Came with 3 Diablo 3 Guest Passes, a WoW Guest Pass and a cool little notepad which is pretty thick. Not too shabby considering I was expecting only a disc and manual. :P
Can't wait to try it out this evening!
