No problem. But at 35 I'm probably older than most. I just happen to be into video games, and wanted to report this recent incident. But basic story: my PS3 died while I had it on standby (which is what I meant by "turned it off"), called Sony, the rep told me it happens a lot, then I sent it to them for repair or replacement.

I don't even get a lot of the jargon. Whats a TC, for example? What are "posts" about.

I did post before, but didn't keep up with the comments, so am posting again.  Then I tracked the last series of comments and saw how nasty people got about it.  Geez, I just wanted to report and get some feed back.  But it did die, I had my receipt, so no big deal.  It's just that it happened after just two months, and not with too much use either.
Here's a question: I usually keep it on standby--is that the mistake?

So the other day I was playing with my PS3 when I got a phone call.  So I turned it off to answer the phone, came back after about twenty to thirty minutes, and noticed that it had powered back on.  Then it powered off.  When I tried to power it back on, it wouldn't.  It just died.
My PS3 died!
When I called Sony, they told me that this happens all the time, and that it probably overheated.  I kept the receipt and all, so I just returned it in the box they sent me, but God, after just two months.  Has this happened to anyone else?

My PS3 died recently after just two months of operation.  When I called Sony, the guy told me it happens all the time and probably it overheated.  So I would be careful about holding onto the receipt.

So the other day, I was playing my PS3. Then I shut it off to eat, when I saw it turn back itself on, then die. It just died. I can't turn it on at all. I've tried plugging out and back in the AC, etc. So I call up SONY, and they tell me that this happens frequently, that it's probably overheated, and that they'll replace it. Since I still have receipt, etc., not a big deal.

But has anyone else had this problem, or know why it happens? I've only had it for two months. Can it be that fragile? Totally lame.

Since a lot of you seem to know what you're talking about, I would appreciate whatever feedback.

I heard this rumour from a friend of mine who knows someone at Konami...

If true, Konami is toying with the idea of remaking the original MGS as MGS Genesis for both next Gen consoles.

That makes sense, with Mr. Kojima out of the picture, it would be a way for Konami to squeeze out more money out of the franchise without his involvement--especially since they can work all those XBox fanboys who would kill for a chance to figure out what it's all about.

Anyone hear of this before? Let's discuss.

Hi,

The only internet access I get in my area is through Time Warner Cable. Is that okay for getting my PS3 on line? Anyone have any experiences with this as well--if so, any complaints or tips. Much appreciated.

I just got the PS3 myself. Resistance was good, but I'm not too into sci-fi actioners. What I thought quite good, though it's been around for a while, is FEAR.
