Ok, so everyone can agree that the so called "Competitive" mode is complete garbage. It's not competitive in any way. It's completely random. Do nothing on a good team that wins and your skill rating goes up. Dominate on a poor team, lose, and your skill rating goes down.

It's completely random and should be called Random Play. And I love how the message pops up when a player on your team quits and it tells you that after the timer runs out, you can leave and will receive a loss but won't receive a penalty. Well, when you lose, your rating goes down. So how is that not a penalty?

So what are the reasons for playing competitive mode? Yup, there are none.

Well, I traded in BF3 for MW3 this week and was pleasently surprised. After MW2, I really wasn't expecting much but MW3 is a decent game:

Pros:

1) Guns are amazing.

2) I really like what they have done with the kill streaks. The introduction of the support package is brilliant and makes the game more enjoyable for the average player that can't get a 20 kill streak every game.

Cons:

1) The lag is worse than ever. More than any game I have every played, your performance is directly related to your internet connection. This is the biggest letdown of the entire COD series. It's very frustrating hitting an enemy with half a magazine only to have them stop, turn, aim, and shoot with a pistol and kill you with one shot, then have the killcam show you never even fired.

2) The spawn points are ridiculous. Just like MW2, you constantly spawn in front of an enemy, away from your team, only to get shot immediately. Why can Treyarch get this right and Infinity or Sledgehammer or who ever the heck can't?

3) Speaking of not getting it right, what is the freaking deal with quick scoping sniper rifles? Treyarch did a decent job of controlling this but the quick scoping idiots are back in full force in MW3. That had to be one of the 3 biggest complaints about MW2 and COD 4 and they still can't fix it? A sniper rifle is supposed to be a sniper rifle, not a close range single shot shotgun. Absolutely unacceptable.

4) Campaign is utterly forgettable. I remember what an intriguing and amazing campaign COD 4 had, but apparently IF show their load with that one installment because the last two Modern Warfare campaigns have been a monumental waste of time.

5) Spec Ops mode is ok to play through once but there is no replay value what so ever. I found myself playing Black Ops zombies incessently because it was a ton of fun and always interesting. Plus you could play it online with 3 other people which always makes it interesting.

Overall I would give MW3 a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. But multiplayer is the only reason to own this game. Black Ops is cleary the superior game in all regards. Treyarch is now the premier studio under the Activision umbrella.

And as for Battlefield 3, nice try EA. Call of Duty killer? Not even close and not even worth a review.

Well, just as predicted, Battlefield 3 is a joke. Campaign is downright laughable. And you have to love playing multiplayer with 24 players on maps built for 64. Nothing more fun than running 400 yards for 2 minutes to get near an objective at the beginning of the game just to get sniped by an unseen enemy so you can do it all over again. On Tuesday I will be doing what about 3 million other people will be doing: trading in BF3 on MW3. Nice try EA, but you keep rehashing the same old boring formula. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. You dopes are clearly insane.

In my mind, there will be no comparison. All COD games are light years better than anything EA can kick out. The graphics on Battlefield look amazing and I am sure the campaign will be great. But it's multiplayer that matters and no Battlefield can't carry COD's jockstrap in that regard. Battlefield will be #1 for a week. Then MW3 will come out and it will be end of story. By the end of November, there will be maybe 20,000 people playing Battlefield on line and MW3 will have sold 10 million copies. Anyone disagree?

I am experiencing some issues with the online multiplayer on COD WAW. Specifically, it has to do with kills. When I face an opposing player, i will unload half a clip on him, he will turn and fire like 2 shots at me and I die. The weapon doesn't matter as it can be the same or differing weapons. Most often times it's MP40 vs. MP40, no double tap. The kill cam then shows that he actually started shooting me first, hit me with 10 shots and I only got a couple of shots or even no shots off. Also, many times I will get sniped and the kill cam shows the other player actually shot BEHIND me.

I was wondering if anyone else experiences the same issues and how you fixed them. Am i lagging? Are the other players lagging? I am concerned because my brother has an Xbox 360 in the same house on the same network and he experiences none of these issues. We are both on a wireless network.

Couldn't agree more. I bought a 360 last fall and I have already had two rings of death breakdowns. I bought the 360 over the PS3 for one reason - the games. if and when Microsuck comes out with a new console, the hardware will be at the cutting edge. I would like to see a 250gb hard drive minimum, and they definitely need to let another company build it. Going with HD-DVD won't happen. It will definitely be Blu Ray. Also, they will repeat the strategy they used with the 360. They will continue development to a point where they can launch about one year prior to the next gen Playstation. Then they will rely on exclusive titles to keep their console in the forefront.
