Random Thoughts 3: Results of a Weekend

What a start to June.  The NEOAA Champion O'Gorman Knights posted it's first ever win in OFSAA only to fall to the other teams in the round robin competition.  The Knights (1-2-0) won 4-3 against Queensway (0-3-0) in a 9am Thursday morning matchup.  At 1pm, O'Gorman lost 2-0 to Guido de Bres (2-1-0).  The next day was the final matchup in the round robin play.  The Knights were slayed by St. Michaels (3-0-0) by a score of 6-0.  St. Michaels went on to losing in the Bronze Medal match to London.  Le College Francais won the Gold Medal after winning a 2-1 shootout against Ashbury College.  We got 3rd place in our Pool.  We were close to a tie against Guido when we trailed 1-0.  Our forward had a wide open space in the net when he rang it off the crossbar and fell to his knees in disappointment.  Seconds later, the ball was in the O'Gorman net to make the score 2-0.  We did win a game in OFSAA so I am proud of that.

BSE was a blast!  I took a picture with "Showtime" Eric Young of TNA and I got my VIP ticket for when they come back to Timmins on September 30th with CAPTAIN CHARISMA, CHRISTIAN CAGE!  CHRISTIAN IN TIMMINS, THAT IS INSANE!  Great show, I got a video of a guy going through a table and a wrestler called my friend a 'fatso'.  So hilarious!

Anyway, thats all for me, goodbye!

Random Thoughts 2: NHL, BSE, OFSAA

Well, the conference finals are underway and it seems that the underdog team from Edmonton is opening a few eyes..they have a 2-0 series lead and heading home for tonight, Game 3. In the other series (which has no meaning to me), Buffalo and Carolina will play Game 4 tomorrow night with Buffalo leading the series, 2-1.

In other news, unfortunately, Tommy Dreamer won't make the venture into the Great White North for Blood Sweat and Ears: Behind Bars in Timmins.  I was disappointed in the news but found out that some of the TNA superstars will come up including Monty Brown and Team Canada's Eric Young.  It should be a good night.

Finally, I played my soccer today and now the O'Gorman Knights are NEOAA Champions for the 2005-2006 season and will compete in the OFSAA tournament next Thursday, June 1.  Should be a fun tournament with tons of surprises that I am looking forward to.  That's all for me.

Wii: WTF

What on earth is a Wii?  Well, it's Nintrendo's new name for it's next-gen console, taking the place of the Revolution.  Personally, I think its a bad idea in North America, the place where we got accustomed to the name of "Revolution".  I will call it Revolution but it will still be Wii, it doesn't matter to me.  Sure, it sounds good in japanese but we speak English!  The best name in english is the "Nintendo Revolution", not the "Nintendo Wii".  There you have it folks, the system competing against the "PlayStation 3" and the "XBox 360" is called the "Nintendo Wii".  Nintendo's 7th generation system.  This is a sad day for the English speaking world!

Random Thoughts That May Make No Sense..

So, how about them Colorado and Montreal players in the post-season?  They're the 7th seed and they're LEADING their respective series 2-0.  They both play tomorrow night, should be exciting to perhaps win a series at home but first to get that opportunity, they must win Game 3.

Another thing, I am looking forward to when wrestling returns to Timmins, Ontario on June 3rd.  I got my VIP ticket so I'll have a front row seat and I will get to meet all the wrestlers.  I was in line an hour early and the line-up was already up past the entrance so this is well anticipated by the people of my city.

Anyway, thats enough rambling for tonight, its late so peace out! :D

Don't forget to check out my websites posted in previous blogs!

New Gaming World, Found Site, MySpace

Whether you know it or not, we are living in a new world of gaming!  It used to be a world with Mario Bros, Zelda and the addicting Duck Hunt game for the NES.  Now, we've got better graphics, re-makes of classic games (the companies cries for new ideas), and of course, VIRTUAL REALITY GAMES!  I'm talking about games like Guitar Hero and DDR.  With these games, you have to actually move more than your thumbs.  My friend last week was playing DDR and moved so fast that his nose started to bleed.  In the old days, it was our eyes, now, we're getting in shape and sweating to our games.  This is what we like to call companies trying to get rid of all the calories of all the 24/7 gamers who order take-out so they don't miss a level.  A move that, in my opinion, is great.  I am an extreme gamer but don't play it 24/7.  I keep in shape by playing soccer and exercising every day.  I like these kinds of games, I played DDR and broke a sweat, something that takes a while for me to do when I'm running.  This is a great game and I recommend it to all overweight gamers trying to lose some LBS.

Onto my next topic, the MLG (Major League Gaming).  Since 2004 in a few locations like New York, Los Angeles and Nashville, there have been big tournaments involving the Halo games.  I just discovered the site today and found that Super Smash Bros. Melee players can enter into a tournament set to take place in 5 locations across the USA both in a singles bracket and doubles.  The winner of the singles gets I think $500 and the doubles get $150.  Just some info to pass along.  For more info and to sign up, go to www.MLG.com

I just want to pass along that my space on MySpace.com is now online.  To see it, go to www.myspace.com/markpare

That is all for now!

Seasons Change!

As the snow melts where I am, I will probably play less video games.  Reason being is that I have a part-time job and I am involved in many things within my school so as the seasons change, so must I.  More running and getting my body in shape for soccer season instead of exercising my thumbs.  I am a true, loyal gamer and I always will be but for now, the PS2, GameCube and XBox will not be turned on as much as it has been in the winter time.  That's my thought!

Also, you can also take a look at my homepage on MSN Groups.  It's a tradition I've had since 2001.  Please join and give life to something that I've been doing for so long!

God of War, Players Choice, New Setups!

As some of you may know, I work in a store that sells video games!  I have been recently going through stock and noticing more and more of the Player's Choice games coming in than some of the other ones.  Sure, well get the usual box of 4 for a newer game but after that, it's 2 medium sized boxes of Player's Choice games.  It is a new concept of "getting the game when it's cheaper" and it definitely works.  I craved "God of War" since it came out and waiting for it to go Player's Choice was the best decision I ever made.  Waiting for something a long time and then finally getting it, it's a better feeling than getting a new game.  Sure, you get the rights of attention of saying, "Hey, I got this game, it just came out yesterday!"  Of course, the new games are usually in the price range of $55-$60 without taxes and I'm not even talking about the X-Box 360 games that have most titles over $60.  A Player's Choice game is between $20-$30.  Waiting is sweeter than just getting the purchase out of the way, beating it and throwing it in a pile of defeated games.

Take my advice, buy Player's Choice games.  It's cheaper and when you start playing it, you feel so much better because you know you didn't spend a fortune on video games, all you spent was $25 and as I said, Player's Choice games come in bundles so you get a better chance than just running to the store and taking a chance.
