I'm not a hardcore gamer, but this GOW s H1t is very nice. I illicitly downloaded the song from the trailer (because in the iTS they only sell it when you buy the whole Donnie Darko soundtrack) and I've been listening to it endlessly. I gotta say, that whole trailer was brilliant. It really set the stage for thinking about the game in a very different way from how I viewed it originally. Jake Gyllenhall (who played Donnie Darko) is a far cry from the Gears you play in the game, but yet that song's lyrics, at least the first verse that they play in the trailer, is so apropos. It makes the character and the story way deeper feeling than you'd otherwise pick up on. Here's a guy sentenced to 40 years for trying to save his Dad. His whole world is wrecked, and there's nothing to do but fight. I dunno, it's typical action fare, but the feeling is so much more deep than you'd normally get. I've read people dissing the lack of a story-line, but I don't think that's the case. What more could there be? Soldiers don't pontificate on the meaning and reasons behind what they do. They fight. The game does a great job of capturing the mood of the story. Bottom line, this game rocks. I really like it, and I don't usually get this into games. I'm not playing this for the achievement points, I'm playin' it cause it's the effin' balls. I know "Cliffy B" can seem a little too much some times, but man, I gotta give the guy his props. He might talk a lot of 5h1t but he can certainly back it up.
