GRAPHICS:

Kinda unfair because the are on different systems, but i will compare enemy design and animations aswell. SMB3:The graphics are a huge improvement over the first mario bros, but they barley compare to mario world because they are on different systems. The enemies are ok in mario bros 3, they are pretty varied and used in moderation. Some extra details (such as mario holding his head when he ducks and the smooth flying frames) make the graphics among the best on the nes. SMW: Really good 16 bit sprites, they really make the enemies come alive. There is extra detail everwhere, even in the backgrounds. Running, jumping and crouching are all smooth and handled very nicely WINNER: SMW

Audio

They both have catchy tunes for sure. SMB3:Charming music in the levels made you hum along and the serious ghost ship theme made you afraid, the music was good in mario bros 3, but the sound effects were a little bit lacking. They were reused way too often SMW:Great music, but as in SMB3, the sx were kinda annoying like when you get a game over sad music plays and you look at a game over screen for forever then it asks you to continue OF COURSE YOU WANT TO CONTINUE why does it have to play that music and make you feel terrible for losing? WINNER:SMB3

Gameplay

It all comes down to this SMB3:You can run, jump, crouch and stomp enemies. There are many power ups, like the mushroom with make you big and gives you 2 hit points instead of 1, then you can take it a step further with the racoon suit(which allows you to fly), the fire flower(lets you shoot fire) and many other power ups. Too bad about the over abundance of percision jumping levels, there is a little too many. SMB3 is also pretty darn hard, but it makes you want to conquer every challenge. SMW:You still hop and bop through a level until you reach the goal, however everything looks smoother and gameplay is improved with more power ups. The bosses are more epic with different way to beat each boss.There is even yoshi to eat enemies for you.There are less areas with small platforms, SMW focuses more on wider areas with less gimicks. WINNER:SMW
