two words...windows 7.metroid5

Please explain a little more.

does windows 7 run the games better in DirectX 10?

There are initial versions of the windows 7 in the market. Is it worth a try? Although I'm not sure I can find good drivers for it.

ASUS tech support sucks big time, but ASUS products rock big time!

My A7N8X-X mobo survived 4-5 years of "gaming for 7-8 straight hours a day"! I just sold it and its CPU, and bought my new M4N78 and this one rocks too! :D

I installed Unreal Tournament 3 in both XP x86 and Vista x64 and the difference is unbelievable!

XP runs the game like butter (or corn oil :D). In Vista UT3 stutters and the framerate is much lower! :(

Is a 600-watt higher end PSU enough for GTS 250 in SLI?

Right, I know that (3.25 GB are being used). But, the point is that XP is 33 percent faster and, obviously, it has nothing to do with Ram!

TheMistique, that's exactly why I used the word "almost" in my post. :D

I don't think it has anything to do with Vista being more demanding, because I have 4 gigs of ram and a good CPU and GPU. Vista couldn't ask for more!

I expected XP to be better in benchmarks, but %33?! Come ooooooooon!!

This PC will run almost every game earlier than 2008 with best and highest settings, but 2008 and 2009 games will run in medium or even low details. I don't think there would be any of the current games which isn't being run by this PC, but in 1-2 years games will start to ask for more performance than this.

Imho, add some more money and get a better PC. :)

Both are very good games, But imho halo was a better game. It was a revolution when it came out, and God knows how many of the XBOX consoles produced by microsoft were only bought to play Halo.

Red faction was also a fantastic game, very nostalgic, really nice story, great musics, ...

Hi.

I'm a serious gamer, and I just bought my new PC. I've been wondering which OS to use?

(I normally install two windows operating systems in two partitions)

I like to use XP because it has had better benchmark results in gaming. Also I like Vista because I wanna use DirectX 10.

Sorrily, the only benchmark tool I have right now is 3DMark 2001 ( ) and so I used it on my XP 32 bit and also Vista 64 bit. The results are somehow shocking!

XP 32 Bit: About 39600

Vista 64 Bit: About 26300

Nothing is wrong about PC settings or drivers in any of the operating systems!

I have read benchmarks which compared Vista and XP, and the difference between them was about 5-10 percent!

Any ideas? Is there a solution for me to have better performance, AND, DirectX 10? If I use Vista 32 bit, does it make any difference with vista x64?

My PC:

- AMD Phenom X3 8650

- 4GB Corsair DDR2 800

- Inno3D GTX 260 Gold Edition

- ASUS M4N78

Thanks. :)
