I have turned off the firewall, shared out my music folder, and added my music folder to my WMP11 folder.Mulch06

I appreciate the suggestion to turn off the firewall as well as the corresponding horror of the response, but it was too late...I've already turned off the firewall.

That said, you were right, it was the internet security settings of my antivirus! Who knew? I'm used to running a corporate version provided by work which didn't have that feature. Thanks!

Hey there, this is my first post here. I've searched through the entire site and, while there was one thread that seemed to described my situation exactly, it didn't provide any answers and I still haven't found any help yet. My situation:

Just bought a new HP laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate as well as a Netgear WNR834Bv2 wireless-N router. My PS3 is set up with uPNP on and NAT type 2 and running firmware 2.43. Through the new router I am able to connect my old laptop (4 year old Compaq running Windows XP and WMP11) to my PS3 and stream audio (though I never got video to work), but I can't get ANYWHERE with my new laptop.

I have turned off the firewall, shared out my music folder, and added my music folder to my WMP11 folder. I can even see my old laptop in my Vista WMP11 library. But my PS3 can't see my Vista and my Vista can't see my PS3.

When I open my Media Sharing tab, it lists no devices at all. What's going on???

Everyone keeps talking about Nero Media Center and XMB--I don't have either (nor should I need them, as evidenced by my ability to connect with my old laptop...i'd like to keep this a low-cost solution!). Someone please help!
