Problem with this game is the same as Dragon Age 2 got, it had to short of a development cycle. If this game came out like 8-10 months later it would have been fine. Certainly not GOTY, but not the meme of the internet either.
That said 72 metacritic isn't even bad, most movies never hit that and they sell and are received really well. Now i know video games typically have a little higher but that is because reviewers don't dare to use the whole scale. Also most of the highest scores are heavily inflated, most "masterpieces" receive like .2-.3 score higher on Playstation than they do on PC for example, even though the PC version is always superior. That is just inflated scores, it works vice versa for "bad" games.
@og_gamerzzz: Why would it be decent if you hack it if the only game in your opinion is Super Mario Odyssey? I know a lot of Switch games are also on Wii U, but what if you didn't have a Wii U? And Zelda is relevant either way since it was out day one for Switch.
I own for my Switch, Zelda, Mario Kart, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Mario Plus Rabbids, Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Bayonetta 2, Kirby, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and Mario Tennis (that is more games than i own for PS4). All of those games except for ARMS and Kirby are must buys imo and every single one is Nintendo only, remember i didn't have a Wii U. I also have Octopath Traveler preordered already and if Captain Toad didn't come out in the same day i would get it. I also have Puyo Puyo Tetris and some indie games, but all of those are available on Playstation and steam also.
Yeah i paid full price for like 3 old games, but all of them are excellent titles and since i i don't own a Wii U it was the only way to get them. You can hate Switch all you want, but i have never seen a console EVER with a stronger lineup in its first 2 years.
@og_gamerzzz: Every game that also on Wii U is also exclusive as you can ONLY play it on a Nintendo platform. And if you're like me and never buy shitty consoles you never had a Wii U to begin with.
I am not a Nintendo fanboy, but they generally make good consoles i like all their consoles except Wii and Wii U. Switch is probably the best console i've bough since like PS2, being primarily PC gamer all i care about is exclusives as other games i play on PC. So while i do own a PS4 it actually gets less play time than my Switch.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the best game on the platform that is not directly from Nintendo (i know they publish it but its 2nd party and not 1st) and you don't even mention it. Shame, also the current product is better than when it launched.
We actually exploited this back in the 360 era. There where a lot of people who modded their consoles so that they could run backups. So when they eventually red ringed (it always happens) their warranty was gone. So the IT shop i was working in at the time, put in fake stickers from China so that they where still under warranty and sent them back to Microsoft. And it worked.
@altairdarius: How did you even manage to get platinum??? I've played it for 200 hours (on PC) and i still not all achievements, not that i care but yeah. But man does that game suck on consoles, with its 20+ seconds loading screen instead of 2.
@asnakeneverdies: You're wrong on so many levels. DOOM while great its better than it has any right to be. I mean i would even go as far as saying its the best game in the franchise, that is a feat considering the first 2 are held in very high regard from everybody. But we had 20 years of nothing but bad DOOM games and holy shit, the greatest FPS in i don't know how long comes along. Nobody was expecting that especially when the beta received really bad reception and they made the review embargo until after the game was released.
As for MGR... its easily my top 5 Metal Gear its not a Metal Gear per se, but a really good action game made from imo the greatest studio out there in Platinum Games. That said its not as good as MGS1 and 3. But definitely better than the spectacle that was MGS4, which was the most recent MGS when it MGR came out. I thought it where gonna play like the melon slicing trailer, which didn't excite me at all. Instead it plays like Bayonetta, which imo is a better game than any Metal Gear.
@Abdulrahman1981: While i always had high hopes for RE4 i gotta agree. Its not many games that makes my top 5 of all time. I played it last year, still great. Its also the game i own the most copies of. GC, PS2, PC (og), Xbox 360 and Steam HD release.
