I thought this was pretty exciting news. What does it mean for games? Probably not much right now, but it does give future games a little bit of boost, which is pretty cool IMO. I would love to see Bethesda patch in some draw distance fixes on consoles, but that may just be a pipe dream.

Hopefully games like Horizon: Zero Dawn and No Man's Sky will be able to take advantage of the extra memory to help boost their visuals and what not. If the PS4 struggles in anything right now, it's probably LOD on distant objects. I'd love to see more games come out that have virtually no pop-in when approaching distant objects.

What are your thoughts on this? Will we see an improvement in game quality in the near future on the already leading system?

@iambatman7986: It seems unfair to release it again at full price on the PS4 while it is discounted on the X1, especially if it doesn't include any extra content.

Alright, alright, cool your jets people.

How do we feel about timed exclusivity in general. Obviously, it is good for the owners of the exclusives, but how does it affect us as a player base?

IMO, it's pretty shitty. All it does is leave behind a huge portion of your fans, and then the hype around your game begins to fall. Will I care about Tomb Raider next year? Maybe I will, maybe I won't. I do not have an unlimited income, so I am going to buy what grabs my attention and looks like a solid game, regardless of how good RotTR may be right now.

@StrongBlackVine: That seems kind of silly, then. Regardless if it was Microsoft's decision or the developer's decision for the release date of RotTR, the hype surrounding Fallout 4 clearly overshadowed RotTR. Bethesda may have kept things tight with Fallout as well. Microsoft may not have known anything. Bethesda announced Fallout right around the time it would have been necessary to start giving stores, companies, etc. a heads up to prepare for the release on their end.

The way Microsoft pushed TR, it was clear they were really excited about the game and expected it to be a console mover, especially considering the success of its predecessor. I think Fallout may have hurt the sales RotTR. Which, as others have said, is probably a shame considering it looks like a good game. I have a PS4 and now have to wait to play it.

If anything, I feel like Microsoft hurt the developer and the player base by buying it as a timed exclusive.

How do you think Microsoft felt when they realized Fallout 4 was coming out on the same day as the Rise of the Tomb Raider?

I like to imaging them sitting there watching the Bethesda E3 showcase, waiting for the release date to be revealed. They see date 11-10-15 appear above Todd, thunderous applause reverberates throughout the theater, and all of their eyes glaze over as they watch all the money they spent for exclusivity disappear.

Any thoughts? I know this is kind of silly, and Tomb Raider did pretty well, however, is a game like this really a console pusher? Was this their reaction to losing Call of Duty and watching the Halo franchise decline?
