Will check those out, thanks for replies. Btw, I've discovered Warhammer 40000 Dawn of War in my library, it runs smoothly on max settings and It's pretty good, already forgot how I loved this game. For now I will stick to it and will come back here when will need new game. Thanks all for suggestions. If anyone remembers something more, please leave a comment :)

@revolverrick: Frames are not problem, problem is CPU, it runs slower than required. My FPS is fine. I on purpose checked on multiple games. Changing resolution is not changing anything.

Oh, and btw, I got Warcraft 3 and Empire Earth 2, so I've found a way to have some fun forr some time :D

Greeting everybody.

There is TL;DR in the end of the post if you're lasy or not interested in reading whole post :)

So, recently I switched from my PC to my laptop based on some personal reasons. And I've been gaming on it for last month, but I've finally got bored of the games I've played. The problem is that this laptop was not meant for playing games, but you know us, gamers, we always find a way :D
Anyway, the main problem here is CPU and Graphic Card. I have Intel Pentium N4200, and main problem with it that it works in a really strange way. It supposed to Burst out up to 2.5GHz from it's basic 1.1GHz, but in reality it works opposite way. For example, I tried to play Terraria on this, and as soon as I launched world my CPU decided it's totally fine to set itself on 1.6GHz (when Terraria requires 2GHz minimum). My videocard is Intel HD Graphics 505, which is extremely bad as well. Only decent thing in this laptop is RAM, which is 8GB. In any case, I'm here not to discuss my processor or videocard, but I'm here for some help.

I'm looking for game recommendations that could run on around 1.6GHz and that don't require anything special from videocard can be run at really bad videocards.

Here's the list of what I've been playing and being able to run normally on 1980x1920 with usually lowest settings

  • Civ 5 in strategic mode stable 60 FPS (ofc, it's strategic mode)
  • Darkest Dungeon (30 FPS)
  • FTL: Faster Than Light
  • Space Rangers HD: A War Apart (most unnecessary animation disabled, low settings, 60 fps)
  • Medieval II: Total War (1400x1050 lowest settings with med textures 50-60 FPS)
  • Project Zomboid
  • Stardew Valley (only a little bit hard for my CPU during rain, small overall game speed going down, like you're playing in slow motion yet with 60 FPS :D)

I am also almost capable of running Hero Siege, but sometimes my CPU falls behind minimum frequency required for smooth run.
Also I am planning to try these games since they supposed to be playable on my CPU:

  • Diablo 2
  • Torchlight 2
  • TES IV: Oblivion (not sure since it requires 2.0 GHz)

TL;DR:

So, in general, I'm looking for low-requirement games to run on around 1.6 GHz CPU and that are not "heavy" for videocard. I'm fan of RPG and Strategies, but play pretty much anything. Except Sport games, like football, ect.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

I agree on strategies, usually they're source of infinite replay-ability.

Here's my list: (with my hours in brackets)

  • Civ 5 (650h)
  • Cities:Skylines (190h)
  • Stellaris (150h)
  • FTL:Faster Than Light (10h)
  • Endless Space 1 (200h) & 2 (haven't played yet)
  • Total War series (140h)
  • CS:GO (3450h, 2300 of them on community servers)
  • Starcraft 2 (1000h+ and almost all of them are on community maps, I literally completed campaign and played 20h in competitive, everything rest is community maps)
  • Dead By Deadlight (130h)

Also, I constantly coming back to these games even though they technically don't have infinite replayability

  • TES:Skyrim (320h)
  • Payday 2 (400h)
