Oh, and C & C and Dawn Of War are all solid choices.

[QUOTE="nvorgang"]I'm not use to the RTS genre, but after seeing Starcraft II, I'm interested. Can anyone recommend any good, beginner level RTS games that can help me into this genre.superkoolstud

Pick any RTS it doesn't reallly matter as you will get owned at any one you choose.

After you pick one, choose a race and read up on their build orders- and start practising some. Once you find a Build order you like, then practicing with it every day atleast 4-5 matches a day. After a week you will start getting better.

Also learn as many cheap tactics as you can and how to counter them.

He's right. I guess it just depends though on how competitive you want to be at these games. Guaranteed when you play someone online in any one of those games you are gonna get owned so hard you'll prob feel like a giant penis just crawled out of your monitor and into your bottom.

It's a brutal world out there.

Savage :Battle for Newerth is awesome, and its free too. go to www.ausgamers.com and navigate your way through the files section, then download Savage. Good Luck!

Savage was awesome when it first came out. Kinda dated by now. Good if you are just bored.

Not sure of any out now . . . but games like Huxely and Hellgate: London could possible be what you are looking for.

Planatside was awful. I never played WW online, but heard alot talk about it, I just think it's really dated by now, but that doesn't make it any less fun.

I know there are some others out there, but non that are worth you making a heavy effort to dig up, trust me.

Wouldn't it be awesome if a mod existed that turned the game into a Neverwinter style RPG via the table top version of 40K Inquisitor?

Does one exist? Bet you want to get some of your mod friends together and make one?

That'd be just wonderful.

Isn't it a bit odd that you're trying to convince someone to make a mod for DOW in gamespot forums?

Use the Adeptus Modificatus section of the official relic forums:

http://forums.relicnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90

That's a great idea !!! I was just bored and just happened to be on these forums. It would make sense to drop it on the DoW site . . . just prob by the time someone actually makes a mod like that, I won't even recognize it.

Yeah, would be pretty awesome if there was. After the warhammer MMO, and something like that, I wouldn't really see a reason to spend money on pewter models anymore.

Well . . . other than the fact some look freakin awesome.

starcraft

and if you really want a game to take up your time civilization IV and galactic civilization II. Set the maps to huge and you'll never leave your seat for about a week.

He's not lying about that week thing. Jeeeez. After you are done playing you kinda realize you just spent 4 days building nothing but influence stations over and over and over and over . . . but for some reason . .  you can't stop.

I can tell you from being an MMO hopper (just look through my collection, I've played a variety), that playing a game with your friends makes it 100 times better. You have someone to talk to about the game, you can hang out with your buds online, and you have someone in the game willing to help you out (hopefully) from the start.

So with that, I'd say go with WoW while it's solid. It's a fun game, good for casual play, good for the hardcore gamer.

Guild Wars is good, but it's more like a digital card game than an MMO.

LOTR . . .not sure, I have no interest in this, as I've run the gauntlet of fantasy MMO's . . just waiting on Warhammer.

Star Wars-yeah, just burn your discs or use them as coasters. It's a big waste of time.

Hopefully this helps.
