The "N" word seriously needs to stop being censored.http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2012/04/04/LA_Gay_Center_Slams_TV_Station_for_Humiliating_Gay_Men/
"It's shocking that any news operation, but especially an affiliate of a major network like CBS, would choose to publish the mug shots, names and birthdates of people charged with victimless crimes, simply because the charges are salacious or related to gay sex," L.A Gay & Lesbian Center Chief of Staff Darrel Cummings said in a statement. "Naturally we don't condone illegal activity of any kind, but these men haven't been proven guilty and historically, charges such as those leveled against them have involved police entrapment. Publishing their photos serves no purpose other than to humiliate and destroy their lives. We call on KCBS/KCAL to immediately remove the images and names from their website."

"Gay" seriously needs to stop being censored in topic titles. There's no f***in' point other than to irritate people.

How come on the net liberals get such a bad rap? Do people just mean the extreme left or all lefties? biggest_loserEveryone gets a bad rap on the internet.
Well I have friends who have had this happen and they all agreed on one thing. Forget about your parents and cut off all contact. If they can't respect who you are they don't deserve your attention. Respect and friendship is not just given, it is earned, and it can be lost.VangaurdiusThat's sad. You're obligated to respect your parets, because they created you.
[QUOTE="naaydaa"]What's everyone's beef with Romney? Why does nobody like him? If you're fed up with the bi-party system, elect Romney. Not only is he a political outsider, but he has also had exorbitant success in both the public and private sector.VuurkHe's a flip-flopper. He's a fake who will play the game and say whatever he needs to, in order to get elected. I'm also not fond of his foreign policy. But I mean cmon... Every politician plays the game. How else would they get us to like them? We aren't necessarily the most welcoming group of people.
The tradition of having the words "mother" and "father" on a birth certificate? The problem is the unnecessary effort that was given in order to change it in the first place. It's all a frivolous matter. Why waste an entire legal process to change something so pointless? What effort?[QUOTE="naaydaa"][QUOTE="Teenaged"]I dont see the problem considering what kind of tradition we're talking about.
Teenaged
And it isnt pointless. Just because so far the percentage of people who have children in "non-traditional" ways and homosexual couples are in the minority doesnt mean anything. Like I said earlier in this thread, it's also the matter of adoption which has made the words "mother", "father" and "parent" mean not so much the person that contributes to reproduction but the person that raises a child.
Call it an issue of political correctness if you like. The truth of the matter is that sociaty is changing, even without the "non-traditional" methods of procreation and homosexual couples. Laws most of the times follow along if change serves a legal purpose.
In essense this is no different than saying "biological father" and "biological mother" in stead of saying "father" and "mother" in cases where the couple that reproduced (artificially or not) does not match the couple that legally raises a child.
If anyone is doing something unnecessary it's the people going to such lengths as to protest against the change.
It's not a rare thing for terminology to change in laws, but I guess this is a special case deserving a hissy fit just because "tradition" is "threatened". Give me a break...
Give YOU a break? F off. You're the one that turned an unnecessary topic into a wall of text that features a relatively simple argument. And I am certaintly not throwing a "hissy fit". I haven't once use disparaged your argument by resorting to ad hominem, which you just did, and you tell ME to give YOU a break? I'm willing to have an intellectual discussion, but I'm not gonna resort to derision. But back to the topic. I don't believe that terms within laws should be changed. Ever. Interpretation of terms can change, but we shouldn't change words. I think we all understand that the words "biological mother" do not necessarily mean "caretaker". Your biological mother is always your mother. And don't act like changing the terms of a birth certificate requires no effort. It requires extensive meetings between numerous members of Legislation.
