So, since Marvel's online is terrible and I'm forced to play it offline, the only fighter I play online these days is SSF4 haha.
So, I've been playing some Oni recently. Got into matches with two of my friends, Oni fights Yun decently, 5.5 in Yun's favour but not particularly bad, Oni's got good options against him. So they both switched to Fei and I got manhandled lol. In the future, I'm using Cammy against Fei. Cammy's still very strong IMO. My Juri's really bad now and I haven't touched Viper in like a year haha.
So, along came this new guy into the chat. Said he'd just got the game, but was confident he'd beat us haha. Needless to say, that didn't happen. I think he went into some other separate matches and lost to random Sims, Blankas and Giefs and got pretty discouraged. So my sparring partner and I offered to help him out. He found things really confusing and at first, I advised him to pick Ryu, but later on, we told him to pick someone he liked and he eventually chose Gen.
It's quite funny, 'cause people say SSF4 is easy-mode. I think at times, fighting game players take stuff that comes naturally to them for granted, and forget they also used to be at that exact same position. Not everyone wants to practice all day to reach a good level and with no-one to back them up, they could end up quitting early. Sometimes it's worth just trying to give them a bit of help. Of course, if they're being a complete penis then don't bother lol.
We're gonna help him out tomorrow and see what can be done. Hopefully he'll stick at it.
