naterrs Blog

Just about every year or so...

It seems like I end up logging on to gamespot every year or so for some reason or another and I have no idea why, but I sometimes feel like blogging. It doesn't make sense because probably 2 people are going to read this max (if at all).

Life's been good I guess. I've been living the college life in Oregon and its been pretty wild. Sadly, I have not been able to play very many console games of late due to the lack of a TV, time, and funding. Even though I don't own a PS3, I have had the chance to play a few titles. Naughty Dog and Insomniac have not dissappointed me with Uncharted and Resistance, although I was a bit sad to see Insomniac loose the co-operatave campaign in Resistance 2.

Hehe, sometimes I do miss the good ole days several years back when I was on posting away on the R&C boards although I don't think I could ever return because of how much time it took up. I can't spend my time dawdling around on the internet too much anymore (stumble not included =p).

Anyway, hope you guys out there are okay and enjoying your crazy antics like you always do.

Peace,

naterrs

Just to get your hopes up...

Hey, a new blog...yay! But no, I am not going to start posting again. Im just checking in on gamespot. Ever since Ive gone to college I havent really been able to play/follow any games :( Oh well, I will see what is new.

Leaving

When I first joined gamefaqs/gamespot, I found some really cool buddies (you know who you are), but now most of them are gone. I decided that it is time for me to leave as well. As most of you have noticed, I haven't been very active for a long time. One reason is homework but the main reason is that gamespot has lost its flair and has been flooded with annoying spammers.

Anyway, goodbye to all of my friends. I will be leaving for a long time and I don't think that I will return. It has been nice knowing you8)
For those of you who wish to contact me, I am sometimes on AIM (my screen name is naterrs). I also might check my PM box once in a while, but I doubt it.

Im bored...

Not much to do... I have way too much homework and I'm really not in the mood to do it right now. My parents caught me doing homework passed my bed time, and now I'm grounded for 2 weeks (and that means no friends or games)... sigh. My parents suck!

Friday Night Lights

During the last 2 football games, I got to play music for the 3rd quarter on stage crew's sound system. This is when the marching band takes a break. Everything was going well. I had a CD with 14 tracks on it. I edited all of the tracks so that when I played the song, it only played the best part. I had to do this because it is considered cheating to play music during the plays because it might make it so the other team cant concentrate (although the marching band can play their music during the plays...).

Everything was going well untill some old guy came up to me and started cursing at me and my music. I really didnt care about him cursing at me, but he insulted my music and he got me really annoyed. He said that the music sounded terrible and that he wanted to hear "football" music (the music that I was playing was classic rock, which is what the NFL plays at their games. Ninety percent of the songs that I chose  were songs that I heard at NFL games). He then said that if I didnt turn it off then, he was going to complain to the principal of the school. He left and I flipped him off behind his back. The third quarter had just ended and I had to turn it off anyway. Im just mad because he probably thinks he "won" the argument and made me turn it off.

The next game, I got a complaint from an old lady. She was accusing me of playing the same two songs over and over again. I told her that I was playing 14 songs and showed her a playlist printout. She then said, "Oh. Well they all sound the same." My stage crew teacher was cracking up the whole time that she was complaining. That was pretty funny to watch.

The only people who really seemed to appreciate my music were the drummers in the marching band. They kept on head banging whenever I played a Metallica song. That was pretty cool to watch.
This is my new track list:

Thunderstruck
Eye of the Tiger
Back in Black
TNT
Highway to Hell
Rock and Roll
Bad to the Bone
Enter Sandman
Master of Puppets
Smoke on the Water
Another One Bites the Dust
We Will Rock You
Blitzkrieg Bop
Seven Nation Army
Song 2
I Dissapear

I am still trying to get:
Wipe Out (for the cheerleaders)
Rock and Roll Part II
Walk This Way

All Hope Is Lost Part II

So, I was gonna get the album "Highway to Hell" from one of my friends, but her computer caught on fire:o:cry:

No, she didnt make it up. I was there when it happend. Her brother was doing a computer check up, so he took off the computer casing. While he was fiddeling with the parts, a bug crawled into the computer (not a data bug, an actual bug). When he turned it on, the bug caught on fire, and then the computer caught on fire, and then the computer died. She didnt save the hard-drive. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Now I have to go out and buy the CD.

Stater Bros Route 66 Rendezvous

I went to the 16th Annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous this weekend. It was pretty cool. There were so many booths with all of this awesome stuff. I wish I brought money with me. Anyway, my favorite car there was the 67 Corvette. This weekend, the cars paraded around the city that it was held in and none of the cars had mufflers on. It was SOOO loud because some of the cars had V8 engines. I actually suffered minor short term hearing loss (when I was driving home, I couldnt hear the baseline of 'another one bites the dust').

Now its MY turn to be the DJ

Thats right, theres a white guy in stage crew now... ME! Im in charge of the music for the football games and I think I have been doing a pretty good job. So far, we have had one game, but I got many compliments for my music choices. Now we can finally relax and listen to some good ol classic rock instead of that terrible R&B and rap (which is definitley not football music).

I didnt spend too much time making the CD, and I dont have very many songs to begin with. So this is what I put on:

Back in Black
You Shook Me All Night Long
We Will Rock You
We Are the Champions
Another One Bites the Dust
Smoke on the Water
Rock and Roll
Bad to the Bone
Iron Man
Welcome to the Jungle
Won't Get Fooled Again
TNT
Thunderstruck

I have decided to take out Thunderstruck, Wont Get Fooled Again, and You Shook Me All Night Long for various reasons. The problem is, I have to turn the music off when the announcer starts talking, which is quite frequent. So you only get to hear the intro of the song (30 seconds at the most). My stage crew teacher wants me to look through the songs, and edit them so that the most interesting part of the songs are played immediatley. I expect that will be somewhat difficult, since I have never 'chopped up' songs before.

Songs that I am going to try to get are:

Blitzkrieg Bop
Rock and Roll Part II
Jump
Walk This Way
Sweet Emotion
Wipe Out
(Requested by the cheerleaders)
Enter Sandman
Master of Puppets
Eye of the Tiger
Smells Like Teen Spirit

Any suggestions will be taken into consideration.

I guess Shopping Music Isn't Half-Bad

I just went to Vons today, and they were playing "Rock and Roll All Night". I thought it was a requirement to play really old, uninteresting music:wink:

What is the best supermarket music you've ever heard?
