Gaming

Gaming has taken very many twist and turns since I was a kid. From playing the Magnavox game system to the Intellivison and Atari. When all we wanted was color and control. Now look at games today.

What do games of today provide? Is it gameplay? or is it Graphics? Every year a slew of FPS come out for all the game systems each boasting to be more clear and crisp than any before it. Isnt it still the same old FPS. Take a game like Black.

Black an FPS is like walking through a movie shouting war songs and slogans while killing EVERYTHING. The plot is weak, the story non existent..is it fun? Of course why? Gameplay. It focuses on how you manipulate your surrounding against overwhelming odds.. The true core of the game play does not come out until Black Op mode is unlocked where all objectives have to be completed and VERY few health pack around. Gameplay

Games like Castlevania DS are not highly rated for graphics but for game play.

Civilization, its the game that makes you want to play not the grpaphics of these microscopic cities.

So, why then would someone want to pay 1900$ for a PS3?

Graphics! Is the game mechanics going to change that much from PS2? I doubt it..Does a PC have better graphics, certainly. Of course harder games are found on the PC with plot and depth, we are speaking only on consoles.

PS3 I am afraid will only have its graphics to sell the console, much like Xbox 360. Is it revolutionizing the game play. No, its revolutionizing the graphics, that is all..With a hefty price tag I might add.

Now we come to whY I wrote this blog. The Wii. By far this console is going to be about GAMEPLAY. Even the controller has revolutionized how we will play its games. Nintendo has always been the best pick for sheer gameplay. Granted not the Best graphics unless you count the GC which was much more crisp then both the Xbox and the PS2. Will the Wii be the same, for much less? Including its reknowned game play coming from Nintendo.God I hope so. As a mature gamer, I look for games that are both challeging and engaging. When you have played Atari Basketball growing up. Anything 3D is eye candy. Being that I am a gamer of old and play handhelds, consoles and PC games..I figure I would give a shot out for game play. not graphics, for the system with the greatest GAMEPLAY games, will no doubt get my money for 2007.
