I've just upgraded my gaming rig a lot, added new graphic card, installed more ram and even got a new CPU. My birthday is coming up pretty soon and im having a hard time deciding what I should get as a present for my pc to upgrade it a little further. here are my specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 3.0ghz
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 x2
Razer Barracuda AC-1 Sound card (with the razer headset)
4 gig Ram
P5N-E SLI motherboard
Now my choices are either a new monitor (now im sporting a 20" widescreen), a new motherboard or another 4870 x2 for crossfire (which i might have to get a new motherboard anyway for it to work).
plz help me decide :) Thanks!
Few days ago I bought the brand new ATI Radeon 4870 x2. The card is very good and all but just looking at the specs i thought its going to run games like crysis and Age of conan at about 40 - 50 fps with max setting. I ran crysis with full setting at resolution of 1680 x 1050 and the game runs at about 30 fps. Its a huge upgrade from my previous card but I was expecting a lot more from this card. Same with age of conan, it runs at about 30 fps too.
Im just wondering if there is something i need to do or change to make this card run at its full potential, I dont really know much about these stuff and its my first time ever using an ATI graphics card. Here is my current computer specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz
Sapphire ATI Radeon 4870 x2 (just a single card)
4GB RAM
Razer Barracuda Gaming sound card
20 inch Widescreen Acer Monitor
From my knowledge, I can say my computer is powerful enough to run a game like crysis at higher fps than 30, please help me out.
Thanks
in singapore xpertVision is as reliable as xfx. the only reason why that guy said its better because it had better cooler not the stock ones.
with nvidia cooler u certainly cant oc any further because the card will burn.
asus also came in with better cooler.

mmm did i mention I'm from singapore in the post? how'd u know?
So i went to the computer shop and was hoping to get a XFX GeForce 8800GT XXX 512MB but the guy there said that this new card just came into the store and is better than XFX. The card is XpertVision GF-8800GT Sonic 512MB. The main attraction about this baby is that it has huge heat sink mounted on it to keep it much cooler than XFX card. That's cool and all but I'm still wondering which one is actually better. XFX is a big graphics card company and to be honest ive never heard of XpertVision. If you guys know anything plz let me know. I really don't know which one is better.
thanks
Hey guys I'm going to be buying a new comp next week but I'm having a hard time deciding which processors to get, Due core or Quad core. This is basically what I do on my comp:
1. Play high end games
2. Editing movies
3. Sometimes I like to keep my computer on overnight because im downloading a big file
These are really the basic things I do on my comp and I heard Quad core gets hot too easily but its much faster at rendering movies and stuff like that. Like I said, I sometimes need to keep my computer on over night coz i might be downloading a big file so maybe if i get quad core the temperature might be a huge problem. I also need to decide which PCI card i need to get, its between 2x GeForce 8800 gtx and a Geforce 8800 Ultra (with that huge heat sink).
Please help me with this, id really appreciate it
thank you
