I dont know if this is relevant, but the system I sent off was a Reach edition and the one that was returned to me, if its not the same system, is also a Reach edition.

sorry for such a delayed response, it was repaired at the microsoft center in texas covered by my warranty. I believe now that is a completely different system because the games I installed to the hard drive run off the disc, and when i try to run game off the hard drive (i know the disc still needs to be in the tray), the system tells me that I need to reinstall the games to the hard drive because this is not the original system that it was installed on.
When I power on my xbox 360 slim manually the green lights do not turn on at all, not the ring lights that indicate the controllers or the power light in the center. The console runs and I can play games but when I try to turn the console on with a wired or wireless controller, it will not turn on. When I try to turn the console off with a wireless controller, the console turns off but the controller does not. Any help? It works but im afraid that it might develope into a worse problem, and I just got my xbox back yesterday from repairs for the loud fan.
I find the gaming experiences I most often wish to recapture are from games like resident evil 1+2, silent hill, shivers 1+2, and more recently Heavy Rain, Alan Wake, and the indie series Decay. I love horror, terror, and thriller genres in novels, namely those of Stephen King, so to be apart of those kinds of experiences in a way only video games can provide is great. Make me a game where im just a normal person put in a horrorific and desperate situation and am looking for a way out, and im all in.
Thanks, im not really worried about red ringing or system failure though. I just want to be able to hear dialogue in a game without turning up the volume on the television rediculously high to overpower the random loud fan noise.
Thank you for the responses. I dont really want to send it off for repairs quite yet so I guess ill see if it works it self out like it did for you flower, ill respond once there is a resolution. Feel free to post with any other suggestions.
This is a relatively long post, beware. I have had a halo reach xbox 360 slim console since its release in september, and it has always been "whisper quite" as expected up in tell this past week. On start up and through out use the fan starts to spin very fast making a loud noise, producing heat right at start up even after days without use. The fan makes a loud noise for a period of 30 seconds or so than slows down to whisper quite, than picks back up again in roughly another 30 seconds or so. The xbox is located in an entertainment center, but is very well ventilated on all sides and I have also tried placing it on top of the entertainment center with literally nothing around it to no avail. All of my games are burned to the hard drive so the disc drive is never in use. I have cleaned all dust or debree in the fan, disc drive, ventilations, and power brick.
I inquired at gamestop about this issue and they said that I was the fourth person to come in with this complaint, and he mentioned that we all happen to be using the kinect with our xbox's. With the slim, kinect ready xboxs the kinect draws power from the xbox by being able to avoid using the additional power supply given for older models, so this got me thinking that this could be contributing to the xbox heating up much more quickly and consistently, so I just decided to use the power adapter for my kinect to see if this helps, so here are my questions:
When a kinect ready xbox that doesnt require the power adapter uses one, does it draw power from the power adapter or will it bypass it and draw from the xbox anyway?
Has anyone had issues with their xbox slim being loud, paticulary from the fan, or have overheating issues?
Any ideas/solutions/help?
Thank you

All the files are CD Audio files (.cda), what am I doing wrong? I burned the cd as an Audio Cd, all the songs are the same file type but only some work. The xbox plays the music fine, even the songs that wont rip, it just wont burn some of it. Help please.
