I can't get enough of this show. I love it. I was pretty sure that Riptide would be more or less the same experience from the first one, so I would have to agree that giving this game a 4.0 is a bit extreme. To be fair the article was fun to read.
I can't say I don't feel the same way. I'd be lacking integrity if I think games are the epitome of human declination. I've always played violent video games and watched violent movies. I've experienced everything violent from since I was a little boy.
I recall playing Mortal Kombat while I was in the 4th grade. While it was fun, I still had the sense even as a child not to go out in the real world and literally rip some dude's head off. The first gruesome movie I have ever seen or at least from what I can remember seeing as a child was Robocop. Let me tell ya, some traumatizing moments for sure, but that's not to say I grew up with irresponsible and neglectful parents. My parents aren't here for me today, but they were there for me growing up.
My point is that depending on who you are now or how you're living the rest of your life depended on your parents or the environment you were raised. That's what I learned in college psychology anyway. There is no clear link between violent video games (or movies) and real world violence. It's all subjective.
